I went and volunteered a shift at the cat shelter with my son and his wife this afternoon. The orientation was last week. One training shift down and three more, then I’ll be an official regular volunteer. The crew on Sunday evenings are so friendly and laid back. It’s also very clear they are passionate about taking care of this passel of purrers. There’s just as much time socializing with the cats and the other humans as there is the cleaning part.
Update from my 10/11/18 post, “Arthur”, he is now living in a foster home! YAY! So many times, they are “failed fosters” in that the family ends up adopting them. Prayers were answered.
Those furbabies stir up my feelings. If they don’t have homes right now, this free-roaming shelter is the next best place for them to be. What strikes me most is how magnanimously they accept their current circumstances.
I just wrote this blitz poem , not knowing where it would lead. The blitz poem is a way to get things out at a subconscious level, but aside from that they are meant to be read out loud — fast. I give you, “Well of Feelings” (which is specifically dictated by the form). I also randomly found the spaced out and cool video included here.
take it easy
take it well
well I guess
well so deep
deep think
deep dream
dream me
dream we
we are
we were
were what
were then
then love
then pain
pain sears
pain endures
endures all
endures well
well what
what now
now fly
now run
run free
run tired
tired day
tired way
way fun
way jump
jump over
jump up
up high
up down
down around
down over
over under
over between
between us
between them
them over there
them over where?
where and why?
where in the sky?
sky vision
sky scanning
scanning clouds
scanning feelings
feelings diluted
feelings lukewarm
lukewarm
diluted
I’m really enjoying the different styles of poetry that you are making use of. Most of the styles are completely new to me.

I’m glad you’re enjoying the poetry styles. I’ve done the OctWriPoMo twice so far, and they like to give form challenges. As I’m practicing them, certain topics seem to fit certain poems. It’s been very enjoyable writing them also.

Thanks Christine! I like the idea of an architect of poetry. It is a design and a building isn’t it. I enjoy reading your poetry as well.

Thank you Jade. Mine just come out however they wants usually! Although I do like quadrilles and haiku. Not too challenging 🙂
