Mystery Blogger Award Nomination!

mystery blogger award

I have been nominated for the Mystery Blogger Award by:

Kristian from Tales from the Mind of KristianSee my nomination here:

Kristian, thank you for the nomination! It is appreciated because I can put on my thinking cap to answer the provocative questions and come up with some of my own for my nominees. Kristian’s blog is always interesting, especially when it comes to writing fiction with a dark twist. Check his blog out sometime and see what I mean.

What is the Mystery Blogger Award?

They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging, and they do it with so much love and passion.”

3 Things about me:

  1. I do counted cross-stitch

  2. I’ve been learning Spanish through duolingo for over a year.

  3. I love playing Scrabble (aka Words with Friends).

Questions from Kristian (good questions, Kristian!) and my answers:

  1. Name something you like to see in a book, that makes you want to read further.

Something a little out there, such as an extreme or unusual occurrence or upcoming event, where there’s a suggestion that an explanation will be revealed. I also like to see it jumping around, with multiple stories being told, or flashbacks that explain, where at some point they converge. A straight up linear story has to be really good with other elements to hold my attention.

  1. What would make you want to stop reading a book?

Print so small I can’t read it. An unexceptional linear story. A point of view that is toxic or triggering.

  1. If they produced the story of your life, what genre would it be?

Transgressive fiction with liberal splashes of horror.

  1. If you could have a plane ticket to anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Barcelona, Spain. Must.See.Gaudi.

  1. What advice would you like to give to your ten-year-old self?

Don’t believe all the bs the haters tell you that try to break your spirit. You’re a beautiful soul and you deserve a chance to reach your potential. You need to find a new family, one where they care to understand how you think and to support you in reaching your potential.

      1. I did find a transgressive fiction site, listed books and authors – oh, my! I think/wonder if … I know all of those books! Liked a lot of them. Interesting, I have to say, very interesting indeed.

    1. that’s really cool, Paula. My needlepoint is extremely limited as in almost nil. It’s been years since the one project I did. The cross-stitch is on my to-do list but seems like never enough hours in the day…

        1. I finished up a Christmas picture this past summer so I could frame it and give it as a gift and was shocked that the holes in the fabric looked blurry. It took real effort to finish it. May need to get some kind of magnifier to use for future projects.

  1. Congratulations on this honour, Ms Jade Li, you have earned it, in the limited time that I come across your blog. Hoping the judges feel the same way.

As for my own poetry, each poem is a verbal snapshot of that particular moment. Truthfully, I haven’t experienced the black depression that causes a suicide attempt, in 8 years and counting. Thank you, for your concern about me.

        1. oh my gosh. I’m sure you’ve tried various herbal teas? I did rest well, thank you. Busy day today also. If I don’t get a chance to read your offerings today will try later tonight or tomorrow for sure. I look forward to your offerings each day 🙂

          1. I will try herbal tea- it can’t hurt- I fall asleep right away then wake up 3-4 hours later and its all over… hope your busy day- goes well!

            1. Thanks Han, it did go well. I was blessed enough to spend the day with former co-workers/friends. We went out for lunch, then later we went to a cidery out of town, then came back here and watched a movie and continued the party. Just waking up 🙂 You can try the chamomile tea, which is very easy to find. Also, herbs in capsules are simple and can be found almost anywhere vitamins are at. I suggest you try one and if it works stick with it. If chamomile doesn’t work, others that may include: valerian, St. John’s Wort (my favorite), or melatonin (not sure if that is an herb or some other natural substance). Drink/take maybe a half hour before bed. Hoping one of these works for you. As Jeremy from Hong Kong learned in the book on sleep he read, everybody needs 7-8 hours for optimum health ❤

              1. Sounds like you had a great day! We all need a day like that now and then!!! I have tried melatonin- it seems to help but only for a short time I will write down your other suggestions and try them out! Thanks!

  2. Excellent post. My partner does Cross stitch, I prefer Crochet. 🙂

I’m going to answer your questions too.

Would you rather lose one of your limbs or lose your ability to speak? Why?

Do you have Mob connections? I would rather keep both, but if I had to choose, I’d rather lose a limb than my ability to speak (although my nearest and dearest may prefer the alternative).

What is one of your favorite books and why?

I love the Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, I love the way it is written and the way it invokes such mystical splendour. I also like the positive message of following your dreams.

What’s the worst crush you ever had on someone and how did it turn out?

Crushes never seem to work out. As I like watching Old movies, I used to get crushes on people who have been dead for twenty years.

What’s the scariest thing about you?

I have strong likes and dislikes and not much in between.

If you could do your dream job – assume you have the training and you will be hired – what would it be?

A famous writer and chat show guest.

What would your worst nightmare job be?

Either hostage negotiation or something involving heights. The combination of the two would be the worst!
