#FF — A scout finds her purpose

PHOTO PROMPT © Jean L. Hays

The Belafonte was rounding Cape Horn, headed back to Pescespada Island, when Vikram called out to Pelé, “You’re not going to believe what I’m seeing!”

Pelé joined Vikram at the underwater observation porthole; his eyes grew wide as he gasped.

Go get Steve and everybody!”

Soon the entire crew was gathered around, agog. Were they hallucinating?

One of the albino dolphin scouts was not swimming alone. Beside her was Ned, naked, smiling, undulating – very much alive.

Jane, tears rolling down her cheeks, looked down, put a hand on Ned Jr.’s blond head, and said, “That’s your daddy.”

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou” is one of my all-time favorite movies. It instantly came to mind when I saw the photo prompt. It was with great joy that I wrote this fan-fic piece.

  1. Dear Lisa,

I wonder where Ned has been. At any rate, I love the story. Someday I want to swim with dolphins. And I think we should gather the FF group and see the movie together. 😉 How fun would that be?

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

  2. “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou” is one of those movies I’ve always wanted to watch but never have for whatever reason. I’m going to add it to my watchlist right now. Done!

Dotty looks like the opposite of Ms. Fancybottom. I forgot her name. Dotty’s diving into the camera face first.

    1. Good on the watchlist (hoping at the top) 🙂
Mlady and Dotty are very different from each other, you’re right. Mlady is transparent, can be a bully to Dotty, is very affectionate, loves to be brushed, and likes water. Dotty lived in a cage for a couple of years so she is more anxious and withdrawn, timid under Dotty’s bullying until she’s had enough then watch out, affectionate in small doses, likes to curl up in her little bed next to me when I’m on the computer. She doesn’t like to be combed (brush is too much for her short hair.) She hates water except to drink. Things they have in common: watching all life forms outside, catching unfortunate bugs that get inside, and chasing the laser pointer.
