Waiting
“Waiting is.” Heinlein once said.
Well, anticipation sucks
when you’re waiting for signs of
words, followed by actions, to
welcome us back to living.
Warm, strong arms and maskless smiles
wander, carefree, in my dreams.

Laura Bloomsbury is today’s host for dVerse‘ Poetics. Laura says:
1A. Write a poem using the PLEIADES FORM. Pick a ONE-WORD TITLE then write a SEVEN-LINE poem of SEVEN SYLLABLES whereby each line begins with the FIRST LETTER of your title.
1B. Since only 6 of the Pleiads are now visible to the naked eye, some Greek legends explore what might have happened to the missing sister, Merope, sometimes called the Lost Pleiad. So you may prefer to write the Pleiades form with just SIX LINES of SIX SYLLABLES instead.
Those last two lines…. ❤

I think I long for closeness too… this pandemic life is draining.

Waiting does indeed suck sometimes! I am trying to be stoical about this pandemic, but sometimes it begins to wear me out. Well said!

Ingrid thanks. My kids live in another city and it is wearing on me. Last night my older son came over to look at my printer/scanner after work (he works in my city) and he stayed for about an hour. Those bright spots keep me going.

You certainly captured the essence of waiting, Lisa, and I love the final lines, that’s what we’re all waiting for.

such an unexpected and novel approach to the prompt but you nailed it just the same and the final couplet is just perfect

Oh, nice one, Lisa. I like the way you manage to get a conversational tone into such a structured piece. And yet it’s such a universal situation. Very well done.

I think Catholics should skip advent this year. There has already been enough deprivation 😦 Thanks for your comment, Gillena.

This works so well in its parts, the pauses between The human touch is hard to wait for at any time. But this wait seems endless. And great art. (K)

Yes, it will be a lovely day when we can once again see smiles. Now, I look for it in the eyes but, there seems to be so much sadness there these days.

Well done Lisa. Your right about that… Waiting is a long drawn out process. I think we are all going to have PTSD till things get back to normal!

Life is either wishing and waiting for something or someone to turn up, or it’s dreading what we know is on its way. I’ve got enough dread to deal with; I’m happy waiting for the good things.

Waiting is. Oh yes…you’ve captured this so well. I think sometimes waiting can have a high energy level of expectation; and sometimes it can have a low level of despair. Either way….waiting just is.
