My massage therapist is also an herbalist and she is setting up a very cool area in her business for herbal and medicinal tea. I couldn’t help but notice some flowers, which I later found out were violets, drying. Also a container of some other interesting looking plants. She gave me the OK to take a couple of photos. this looked like a bamboo board
this is a stainless steel screen
I forgot to ask her what these leaves are.
Between yesterday and today there are now pictures of the flat of strawberries, 4 very healthy pepper plants of 2 varieties, and open apple blossoms!
this is an old hen planter I’ve had for a few years that has been growing chives in it for almost as long. i think it looks neat in greyscale.
so pretty today. they were not open yesterday.

After my massage I headed to my favorite country market and bought fresh produce…. and these two magnificent geranium plants. I usually get the hanging baskets but these were too pretty to pass by.
they have different shaped leaves and such lovely shaded blossoms
On my way home and listening to pandora radio — free now, wasn’t going anywhere in the car enough to warrant having older son buy me a subscription to it at Christmas time — which means there are ads I have to listen to in lieu of paying for ad-free — and heard Tom Morello advertising his podcast, Maximum Firepower. Of course I clicked on it and it took me to the full episode they are only showing a clip of here. I have to say I was enthralled hearing Tom and his guest for the day, Dave Navarro. Not only is Navarro famous for being a member of Jane’s Addiction, he was also one of the hosts for Inkmaster, a show I *LOVED* until I lost cable TV. I’m not sure how to listen to the whole podcast other than on pandora radio but here is just a clip of Maximum Firepower’s podcast for today:
Gotta love any post that starts out with, “My massage therapist…” You’re hitting all the personal bells and whistles over here. Grand Rapids, now LMT (I am one myself but haven’t practiced for a while). Of course then there’s just the name of this blog…my fave translation of the TTC is Gia-Fu Feng/Jane English’s version. 🙂

I love violets. I wonder what she will use them for? (K)

I do also. They grow on their own here in the yard. She said when they do their foot spas/treatments they sprinkle them in the water.

I wasn’t aware that Morello had a podcast, so I’ll need to check that out. Navarro is a very interesting guy… I’m a big fan of his playing and Jane’s Addiction.

Glad to make you aware of it. I need to learn more about both Morello and Jane’s Addiction.

Jane’s Addiction are one of the greatest bands that have ever been. No matter how often I listen to them, their albums are still electric. Navarro is one of my favourite guitarists to listen to.

I will check them out for sure. One thing they do in the podcast is list their favorite guitarists. Some of them I never heard of.

Excellent. I’ve got it on my list of things to check out this weekend… I’m interested to hear which guitarists inspire or inspired them.

Looks like a very relaxing place… we are planting a cherry tree…if we can keep the birds out of it. I’m looking forward to our herb growing adventure.

Max, that is so awesome about the cherry tree! You can get netting to put over the tree to keep birds out but let bees in. Herbs are wonderful because you can pick off just what you need and the plant keeps growing.

I had a cherry tree in my backyard as a kid…it was really cool and I do remember birds and bees…no pun intended lol.
We do need the netting.

I distinctly remember where I was when I first heard this song. What a great song!

It really is…their harmonies are great…
…and the cool part is they can legitimately say…they were in Big Star.
