This week’s Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie’s Heeding Haiku with Chèvrefeuille has the inspirational prompt of hawk.
i
Perched, her red tail wags,
head swiveling to decide
which snow drift to glide.
ii
Brown wings glide over
white drifts; talons clutch the hare;
sub-zero dinner.
iii
Winter hawk calls in
the morning; there will be grief
in snowy kingdom.
iv
Her sharp eyes see all,
and her strong talons serve her
life through the winter.
v
Hawk waits for me in
the leafless winter birch tree,
nodding as I pass.

Love the series.
