Ellen whistled as she exited the bank. First stop was the local bakery, where she bought herself a large masala chai and a poppyseed muffin. It was a half-hour until she picked Billy up from school.

At 3pm , her grin was from ear to ear as Billy got into the old rust bucket.

What’s going on, Mum?”

You’ll see.”

They drove to the old market that had been in their family for fifty years. Hard times had forced Ellen’s parents to shut it down 10 years previous.

Tears in her eyes, Ellen said, “We’re reopening the market.”

A happy ending is always refreshing after some of the dark stories. Nicely done.

Thank you. You have to admit it is a pretty grim-looking place…
