Trying to decide whether to write this now – midnight – or wait until the morning. Since I’m about to go watch a DVD and won’t be up until later in the morning, it will be now.

Soul is something that each human possesses, I don’t think there is any question about that. The overlords can take a lot from us, our worldly goods, our dignity, our self-respect, our freedom, our rights, and a lot more, but one thing they cannot extract from us is our souls. A soul is attached to us, and if a person is so disturbed they wish to give their soul over to a dark purpose, it has to be given of the person’s own free will.

I’ve been listening to Clarissa Pinkola-Estes, who is a Jungian analyst and dream analyst as well as a healing storyteller. She talks about the dream healers, or suenadoras, helping individuals who have let their souls detach and wander from them to call them back. First off, that gives me the creeps. After taking a few deep breaths, I started to wonder, are souls tangible forms of energy? I’ve heard of the term aura before and have an idea of an aura being an energy field that radiates out from a person based upon their qi, or life force. I wonder if the soul and one’s aura are connected? There are so many things beyond our understanding in this area.

I have to believe that a soul somehow is a radiant energy that works in tandem with the mind and the heart. Maybe soul is what carries on after our bodies lose biological life? Maybe the soul is the satellite that travels over from the other realm/dimension while we are alive here, then travels back when we aren’t? Many of us have been taught about a place called heaven that we travel to.

While we are here, in this life, we must try to keep our souls shiny and be careful not to let them wander too far from us. We will need them to show us to the way to the next place.

There you have it, my stream of consciousness on the wondrous part of us called our soul.
