Wikipedia says: “Little Green” is a song composed and performed by Joni Mitchell. It is the third track on her 1971 album Blue. Mitchell wrote Little Green in 1967 about the daughter she had placed for adoption in 1965, when she was a poor folk singer in Toronto. The existence of her daughter, originally called Kelly Dale, was not publicly known until 1993, when a roommate from Mitchell’s art-school days in the 1960s sold the story of the adoption to a tabloid magazine. Mitchell commented on the situation in an interview quoted in a 1998 article: “I was dirt poor. An unhappy mother does not raise a happy child. It was difficult parting with the child, but I had to let her go.” Mitchell was reunited with her daughter, Kilauren Gibb, in 1997.
Born with the moon in Cancer
Choose her a name she’ll answer too
Call her green and the winters can not fade her
Call her green for the children who have made her little, green
Be a gypsy dancer
He went to California
Hearing that everything’s warmer there
So you write him a letter, say, “her eyes are blue”
He sends you a poem and she’s lost to you
Little, green, he’s a non-conformer
Just a little green
Like the color when the spring is born
There’ll be crocuses to bring to school tomorrow
Just a little green
Like the night’s when the Northern lights perform
There’ll be icicles and birthday clothes and sometimes
There’ll be sorrow
Child with a child pretending
Weary of lies you’re sending home
So you sign all the papers in the family name
You’re sad and you’re sorry but you’re not ashamed, little green
Have a happy ending
Just a little green
Like the color when the spring is born
There’ll be crocuses to bring to school tomorrow
Just a little green
Like the night’s when the Northern lights perform
There’ll be icicles and birthday clothes
And sometimes there’ll be sorrow

It seems to me that the Coloring Club is more about music, than it is about coloring.

It is Coloring Club PLUS whatever else I add to it. It takes me way longer to color the picture than to prepare the music part. Right now the coloring and music go hand and hand. I see you put your hat into the ring for the music host at MLMM. Good luck. You’re dependable and personable and would make a good one. I thought about volunteering, but after so many years of being a slave to a schedule, the very thought of being responsible for it made me anxious.

Love the coloring and music selections- as always. And thanks- your selection of Joni Mitchell reminds me to get back to finishing up her discography… question for the day which is the greatest Joni Album– Blue or Court and Spark?

Thank you Hans :) Don’t make me answer your question. I like Miles of Aisles because it’s live and has all of the best tunes on it, but you probably don’t count those as separate do you.
