George Fest – subtitled A Night to Celebrate the Music of George Harrison – is a live album and concert DVD package documenting the George Fest tribute concert to former Beatle George Harrison, held at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on 28 September 2014. The album and documentary were released on 26 February 2016.
The 2014 concert coincided with the reissue of Harrison’s Apple Records solo albums. Among the many performers were Brian Wilson and Al Jardine of the Beach Boys, Dhani Harrison, Norah Jones, Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd of the Flaming Lips, Conan O’Brien, Spoon’s Britt Daniel, and Brandon Flowers of the Killers. Other performers included Ben Harper, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Ann Wilson of Heart, and Ian Astbury.
I finished watching George Fest last night. It is an amazing concert that you must see at least once if you like George Harrison music. Each performer is passionate about making sure they cover the songs right. I’m sure you will choose your favorite versions and artists. Today’s selection is “Wah-Wah,” sung by Nick Valensi. I had never heard of him before 2 nights ago.
Nicholas Valensi (born January 16, 1981) is an American guitarist, singer, songwriter and session musician. He is most famous for his role as lead and rhythm guitarist, as well as occasional backing vocalist and mellotron player, in the American rock band The Strokes. Valensi has also worked as a songwriter and session guitarist with various artists, including Sia, Blondie, Brody Dalle, Regina Spektor and Kate Pierson. In 2013, he founded side-project CRX, for which he acts as singer, songwriter and lead and rhythm guitarist. Their debut album, New Skin, was released on October 28, 2016.
The Strokes are an American rock band from New York City. Formed in 1998, the band is composed of singer Julian Casablancas, lead guitarist Nick Valensi, rhythm guitarist Albert Hammond Jr., bassist Nikolai Fraiture, and drummer Fabrizio Moretti. Following the conclusion of five-album deals with RCA and Rough Trade, the band has continued to release new music through Casablancas’ Cult Records. Met with widespread critical acclaim, the Strokes’ 2001 debut, Is This It, helped usher in the garage rock revival movement of the early-21st century—and ranks number eight on Rolling Stone’s 100 Best Debut Albums of All Time, number two on Rolling Stone’s 100 Best Albums of the ’00s, 199 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time and number four in the NME top 500 albums of all time.
Wah-wah
You’ve given me a wah-wah
And I’m thinking of you
And all the things that we used to do
Wah-wah, wah-wah
Wah-wah
You made me such a big star
Being there at the right time
Cheaper than a dime
Wah-wah, you’ve given me your
Wah-wah, wah-wah
Oh, you don’t see me crying
Oh, you don’t hear me sighing
Wah-wah
I don’t need no wah-wah
And I know how sweet life can be
If I keep myself free, wah-wah
I don’t need no wah-wah
Oh, you don’t see me crying
Hey baby, you don’t hear me sighing
Oh, no, no, no, no
Wah-wah
Now I don’t need no wah-wahs
And I know how sweet life can be
If I keep myself free of wah-wah
I don’t need no wah-wah
Wah-wah, wah-wah, wah-wah
Wah-wah, wah-wah, wah-wah
Wah-wah, wah-wah

He’s the closest to my heart, I was electrified by “All Things Must Pass” as an album. Like the Strokes too, and enjoyed your colouring.

Thank you. George is becoming an obsession with me, I fear. Haven’t heard The Strokes but have some of their CDs on the way. I want to check out Nick’s new band’s music as well.
