Yellowstone’s Rip — be my man

Cole Hauser as Rip on the TV series, Yellowstone

I’ve been binging Yellowstone S5 Pt. 1 this weekend.  It’s a new release from the library so can only borrow it for a week (close to 2 dozen people are waiting for it) which means I gotta do it.  Don’t feel sorry for me though, because I’m enjoying every moment of the binge.

This is not my first post about Yellowstone.  I wrote a review on it last year, which you can see here.

Today’s post is about my being reminded of how batsh*t crazy Beth is and how much I love Rip for his steadfast love for her.

Rip is not only the rock that Beth depends on.  He’s the boss of all of the cowboys (and cowgirls) and the general manager (I forget his exact title(s)) of the sprawling Yellowstone Ranch and he does it with such quiet efficiency and humility!  He keeps his cool no matter what, and for the situations he finds himself in — and there are MANY — that is saying a lot.

It’s not just Rip’s now that I love, it is knowing his beginnings and how he became strong from those beginnings.  He’s got a temperament forged in mighty fires, like a steel blade.  Most times his temper is sheathed like a sword.

Young people have so few heroes to look up to these days.  I see Rip as one they could look up to.

I actually went back to reread your post from last year! (And our exchange…)
I love Rip for so many reasons. That he not only loves Beth but understands her and accepts all of her is testament to some serious loyalty. That loyalty shown over and over for anything Dutton.
I’m in withdrawal right now. Waiting for the second half of Season 5. It ends after this. Waaaaahhhhh
Did you watch 1883 and 1923? So good, as well. And putting them 40 years apart, left them room to add a few more seasons, which ain’t a bad thing!

Well said on his loyalty to Beth and anything Dutton. So Part 2 isn’t out yet???? I’m halfway through Part 1. Is it just me or is Beth more off the chain than usual? I *did* watch 1883 and I *loved* it! Haven’t had a chance to see 1923 but with Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren and the quality of the production I have to believe it is fantastic.

        Nope, it’s not.
        She is off the charts.
        1883. So good!
        1923. Really good, too!
So different the two of them but I love the back and forth. And that Elsa in 1883… my goodness… She was amazing.

Wasn’t she the best? Then again, she had fabulous parents. They were great, too. Let’s face it; the cast was wonderful.

And FYI on the 2nd half of Season 5

I love this part of the article: “Thanks to the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan, we are always working on franchise expansions of this incredible world he has built. ”

  4. My wife and I recently binged watched in chronological order 1883, 1923 and all of Yellowstone’s season 1 through to 5 (part1). A few years ago I wasn’t at all interested in it. Admittedly Harrison Ford brought me to the franchise. Haha, yes Beth is everything I love to hate about Yellowstone. But Kelly Reilly is amazing as Beth no doubt. I have to say season 5 and its writing is a little below par. There are so many plot holes. For example how is it that Beth doesn’t know about the ‘Train station’, the road cliff where they dump bodies when she confronts Jamie in the part 1 finale. Did she forget she raced to get there first before Jamie got rid of his dear dad??!!?? Taylor Sheridan, please explain!

Aha, two more TaylorVerse fans! It’s been awhile since watching the earlier seasons of Yellowstone. Of course Beth knew about “the train station.” She never misses a thing, and I forgot that part of her trying to keep Jamie from dumping dad there.

I saw 1883 and adored it, and I also enjoyed “the making of…” doc they did on it. Lots of prep and lots of work gone into it. Haven’t seen 1923 yet but know it must be fantastic.
