Last night at 2 a.m., while binge-watching, “Alone,” moonlight snuck in through the blinds. I looked out and said, ooh, I need to get out there and get a shot of that. It’s the first clouds I’ve seen in probably weeks. It was still cloudy this morning, but it’s more hazy than anything now.

For the first time ever, frostbite got the ginkgo. Looked out one morning last week and freaked when it looked orange. This is what is looks like a week later. One of the other pics shows there are still living green leaves on Lady Ginkgo; am hoping no lingering bad effects. The larch tree is lush and growing. I will trim it after the rain (when/if it rains.) The blue tarp pic is me trying to kill the pernicious mugwort that dominated my beautiful peony bed. The peonies are casualties but worth it to exterminate the mugwort from the yard. There are still 2 peony bushes out front but neither one is close to blooming yet.

Gingkoes are hardy. I wouldn’t give up on it.
Love that moon shot!

Thanks, it was so beautiful out there. The bullfrog calls were jolting though!

Our almost-full moon was dancing with clouds last night too after a huge thunderstorm. She woke me at 3 am.

SO HAPPY to hear you got rain. I took some more shots of the moon last night and it looked very different. Will share them in a bit.

We needed it. It cooled things off again too.

I really like the Larch and Ginkgo…very beautiful…
Guess what I just picked up at a yard sale on our way back from Ky? Two bikes…one is a 1979 Schwinn and the other is a 1985 Trek 400…both are 10 speeds and are in great shape. I need to get some tires I think….they haven’t been rode in years and have been in a garage…they could be dry rotted…but I got them for $75 each…I looked them up on ebay….absolutely crazy prices… one was $400 and the other I found was $789. They both have great reviews. I didn’t buy them as investments though…the Trek is the lightest bike I’ve ever owned.

Max, I’m SO GEEKED for you and Jen. What a deal!!!!!!! Those tires will have to be replaced for sure, they make much better tires these days, as I found out last year when I had my bike overhauled. How did you get them home? Do you have a truck? Oh I know about the price of new bikes, that’s why I decided to keep my old one. Trek is what I have :)

I’m looking forward to fixing them up. I’m pulling one in my Music room. Halffast gave me some great advice because I emailed him straight away. That Trek bike is feather light.
No I drive a Toaster! A Toyota Scion….I had to go back and get the other one…but it fit in the hatchback.
You know me well Lisa…you know I enjoy vintage things…and I love the thought of getting the 1972 Schwinn driving again…not to mention the 80s Trek. Tires are cheaper than I thought….two tires and intertube only cost around $29 for two of each.

Halffast is a good resource for you. That’s a good price for tires and tubes! My dream would be to know how to take a bike apart and put it back together again and know how to fix it on long rides if needed. My dad showed me how to change a tire when we were young but back then bikes only had one speed and no gears, etc., to deal with. Those bikes will be a wonderful and distracting project for you.

I remember changing tires on my bikes when I was a kid…now how much did I retain. What scares me are the gears and brakes…but youtube has so many diy videos….I think I can do it. I might make a post on it.

I was visiting my friend at a local cable channel back in 1983…all they did were farm reports and etc…. he wanted to show me this doc…. We played it but didn’t know that it was broadcasting all over the tiny county we lived in…the old farmers didn’t know what was going on…Chip…his name didn’t get fired lol

p.s. sorry for late response. It was nearing 90 in the atrium, which is where the computer is, so stayed in the cooler part of the house all afternoon. Was supposed to rain today but didn’t. We need rain bad, to cool things down and keep everyone alive (plants animals etc.) Speaking of animals, I went out this morning and watered a few things and learned there is a toad living in one of my planters, the one I have just container plants in. The little critter can crawl right under one of the edges. I put a tray of water out for him.

That is so nice of you…I wish more people were conerned about wildlife and animals in general. It was hot here also today…
We had friends to let Martha out and to feed our two turtles. We just got a 55 gallon tank for them…they love it.

I always keep water in containers (bird baths at ground level on up) for the critters. Glad your neighbors watched your critters for you. So neat on the turtle tank upgrade!

Thank you Lisa on behalf of the animals! Not that I’m qualified to talk for them…I just wish everyone would share the feeling.
Oh I was watching Pred Fins the other day…that is the one you have watched right? They visited Chandler’s…great episode.
The Turtles were bumping into each other in that small tank…now they can swim to their hearts delight.

No, not Pred Fins. Ohio Fish Rescue. I’m still a daily watcher of that show. It checks so many boxes for me. The critters don’t fear me here (except for the squirrels and the neighbors cats who keep slinking over here trying to kill birds, baby rabbits, baby waterfowl, etc.)

Oh ok…sorry about that….I knew there were fish. Lisa I watch more youtube shows than I do TV…Urban Rescue Ranch and Chandler’s….I watch everytime they release a new one.

What amazes me about OFR is HOW MUCH they know about caring for fish. Josh is in his 20’s or 30’s and he is phenomenal at how much he knows. His dad, Big Rich, is the glue that holds it all together with his larger than life personality. They run all of their tanks on ONE filtration system that travels through them all (except for the quarantine tanks.) They use pothos (the plant) to help filter the water of waste. They also have a huge koi and paddlefish pond out back that they work on. They also drive to people and take their fish when they can no longer keep them. Their monster tank is an indoor swimming pool with fish over 8 feet long all living in harmony. It’s truly phenomenal.

They have a huge passion…and that drives them. It IS remarkable that those that young know so much. Chandler is the same way about snakes and alligators. It blows my mind that they have that much knowledge in their 20s and 30s. Now though with the internet they learn so much about them at a young age. Chandler was doing Alligator shows at the age of 13.
