Wolf’s Rain

This is another series found by a random anime search in the library database.  It only lasted one season, (30) 24-minute episodes.  I’m about 75% through it.  It’s a very good, solid story that mixes mythology with reality and the past with science fiction.

The premise of the series is that wolves have been thought to be extinct for 200 years but they survive and can shapeshift into human form when around humans in order to stay safe.  They use “glamor” to effect the illusion and also to persuade humans a little more than usual.  Some humans with attuned senses are able to see them but most aren’t.

There are four individual young wolves who have either never had a pack or have lost them.  They meet up by chance and end up forming a pack of their own.  They have a unified purpose:  to find “Paradise,” a place where wolves can live in peace and don’t have to hide or connive anymore.

There is another story line where government-owned lab scientists are studying Cheza, a “human moon flower” that has been genetically engineered by an ancient wizard and has become a consuming love interest for a descendant of that wizard.  A modern government (set in the future which is the sci-fi part) decides to steal her from the wizard just to show they can.  Cheza, like the wolves, has an immense attraction for the light of the full moon, and this, by extension, gives her a spiritual link with the wolves and they with her.  When they happen by the lab where she’s kept, they sense each other and Cheza escapes with them.  The wolves believe that Cheza knows the way to Paradise.  And so begins a grand adventure.

There are also several well-developed support characters, both human and other than human, along the way.

I’m not sure how this series will end, but from what I’ve watched so far, I can recommend it with confidence.

Sounds interesting…the last animated series I watched was 3 seasons of Avatar The Last Airbender. It was great.

It is interesting. It’s about 20 years old and much more slower paced that more modern anime. I think I may have seen The Last Airbender live action movie but haven’t seen the anime series.

The movie sucked…I’ll tell you that now…The Last Airbender was a greatly written and made animation..
It’s around 20 years old also.

I just found it in the library database and have it in a “watch later” queue. Right now I”m finishing Wolf’s Rain and then starting the final season of Elementary.

Ok…oh I’m glad we didn’t do the wireless router at that time…they have switched to ONLY 5G…we were using 4G…but the 5G is something to look into.

My internet “hotspot,” device, which works off of cell towers, is 5G. It’s plenty fast, but it is still data limited. It is $30/month for 50GB and data can be added pretty cheaply. It’s also very reliable.

Good…that is about the same thing I was talking about. Luckily…we stopped using them and went to the local internet company because all of those 4g routers just stopped working not long ago because they discontinued 4g as a choice.
                    50GB is great….

I upgraded to this 5G capable device some months back. The first one I got I’m sure was used, as the battery would barely hold a charge. This new one is much better and holds a charge for a day. Did you know they were going to “disable” your routers ahead of time?? I hope so!

NO…we did away with them because the cheap company I work for didn’t want to pay for the 5G to begin with….we have a Franchisee who needed a replacement because his internet service went bankrupt….so I turned him on to this…and they told him and he told me…we had a test router in the office and it had stopped working so I knew it really happened and he didn’t misunderstand them…they told us nothing though…thank goodness they were replaced already.
                      Sorry for the novel lol.

You were keeping yourself informed and that helped the company. You should get a bonus! No need to apologize, Max. Always feel free to express yourself here <3

Ah, I haven’t watched Wolf’s Rain, but it sounds interesting. On the topic of wolves, Wolf Children is an anime movie, worth looking into. It’s quite profound.

Toboe the kid, and Hige the wolf with the collar? I loved the various story lines they had going. The Old Man and Blue was quite touching to me.
