life comes with an expiration date.
really, what are you waiting for?
face it, careful doesn’t cut it
when days are ticking out.
smash your lips into it
get them wet, sticky,
salty, sweet, warm
guzzle the tang
breathe every
last drop of it!

De Jackson (aka whimsygizmo) is today’s host of dVerse’ Quadrille Monday. De says:
write a 44-work poem using the word smash.

Indeed… carpe diem!!! take it before it’s too late.

Your quadrille has a great strawberry shape, Lisa, and I like the metaphor very much. I especially love the sensual lines:
‘smash your lips into it
get them wet, sticky,
salty, sweet, warm
guzzle the tang’.

Thanks for seeing the strawberry shape, it was unintentional :) Since I’m a food addict I always look at full enjoyment of life to include guzzling delicious food.

I like the way this shrinks as it spills, so fitting.
“Smash your lips into it” is such a stunning visual for seizing the day, and tasting all life has to offer. Love it.
And I love this Dave Matthews song!

Can’t you just imagine that on some shortbread with a large dollop of whipped cream on top? :) Thanks, Dwight.

Smoothies have been a mainstay of my diet after two weeks on three antibiotics. Kefir and/or yogurt every day.

Good choice. Are you over your infections now??

Yes. All better now. Went on my longest bike ride in 3 months (no that I was sick that whole time, just coincidence) Monday and will do about the same Wednesday.

Nothing like an expiration date that you don’t know until it comes; if then.

Reminds me of a saying I heard…”you can’t be careful on a skateboard”…in other words live it up while you are here.

Life. It goes on and on.
The book given me I wont turn in even a day before the expuration date. So far, after the pages matured the story is getting to be more and more interesting.

I do envy folks who live one day at a time and apparently are happy. Then my rational side kicks in and tells me you can’t just live day by day without a plan for the future. Oftentimes, I fall into the trap of emphasizing the latter. The real trick to long-term happiness is to find the right balance between enjoying life in the moment without losing sight of where you’re going.

Exactly, Christian. It doesn’t have to be either-or, but a balance between them.
