You have reached a quiet bamboo grove, where you will find an eclectic mix of nature, music, writing, and other creative arts. Tao-Talk is curated by a philosophical daoist who has thrown the net away.
Let them keep their damned oil. Maybe that will help force us to take developing sustainable energy seriously. I don’t like the current idea that electric vehicles are the answer either. That electricity mostly comes from coal/oil sources and the batteries are fire hazards and toxic garbage when time to discard them.
Yes I agree about the electric car…at first I thought yes! Then found out more about it. Yes those batteries are terrible and getting rid of them…a problem in itself.
I so agree with that–electric vehicles are still using valuable resources, still polluting, and explosions are rampant, at least here in the city. We need to give up our reliance on the single use auto and come up with better alternatives. You don’t get a gold medal for buying an electric car. (K)
NYC seems to have a fairly functional public transportation system as do other metropoli around the globe. If you all can do it, so can smaller places — if we get our priorities straight (ha!) Around here electric bikes have gone wild and it makes me sick! They should be the exception (serious health issues) rather than the latest fashion.
My grandparents lived in a small town (Canton, Ohio)–they gave up their car when they got too old to drive. But back in the day there was bus service to get them where they needed to go. I think that was once true of many places. There’s no reason it could not be that way again, except for the will of our politicians
It has to come down to money…like everything.
