PHOTO PROMPT © Dale Rogerson
My mind traipses a fertile terrain. Old friends and family tell me it often wanders too far and for too long. It’s true at times it gets stuck in muddy details, but what part of life isn’t messy when taken to far reaches? My imagination will never be content with geometric, manicured lawns.
The natural progression of cosmic receptivity says that as new things are gathered and synthesized, other things are cast aside to make room. Through mutual, tacit, consent, manicured friendships fade away with equal measures of loss and relief, while my growing posse of mud-loving companions play pat-a-cake.

The old gives way to the new. Interesting progression. I like the contrast between the ‘manicured friendships’ and the ‘mud-loving companions’. Great ending.

There’s so much said in this piece you’ve written, Jade.
I found it to be very powerful in its undelying messages.
Well done … Happy New Year

Dear Lisa,
There’s a lot to be said for the fertile, unmanicured fields of one’s imagination. Lovely write. Evocative and visual.

Beautifully writing, Lisa. So much in only 100 words. I’m with your character. I am drawn to the messy not the manicured kind of life.
