Which cycle’s noble?
Summer green vining tendril,
but never cloudy frost?
Gentle poet every garden.
Make peace with nature.
Be here, there, in Eden root.

This makes me long for summer and listening to music in the park!

I hear you, Colleen! I’m over winter, especially because it had a months-long preamble.

Right? You get much worse winters than we do here in EL. Lake effect snow barely reaches us.

One thing that surprised me last week was we had temp of 12F but my son who lives in GR had temp of 0F. I think lake effect works both ways, but there is a definite effect!

The temperatures were all over the place. We had -24F one night last week. The wind chills have been really rough.

Oh my gosh, Colleen, -24??? It’s kind of unusual here, but there has only been a few days where there’s been any wind at all and it was 16mph. It’s been eerily wind-free for the most part. Wind chill is the stuff to be careful with. It can sear (sp?) you badly and quickly.

Yes. We didn’t get the snow but we got the wind and windchill. It was at night, and we stay home when it’s like that. I’m glad we’re headed for warmer and more normal temperatures.

If it doesn’t snow for Christmas, I can always do without until it “tries” again next year. Now that we are covered in snow and ice…I’m well over winter too, Lisa. Gorgeous voice, great song.🙂

Each cycle has its own nobility, I say.
I love this, Lisa.
And you can never fail if you add Joni Mitchell.
She would have loved to have been at Woodstock but damn CSNY didn’t wait for her, the bastards! :)

Thanks, and you’re right, you can’t go wrong with Joni. There’s a good story in the Chris O’Dell book about her.

Thank you, Christian. The Oracle always surprises and delights. It had been a long time since hearing Joni sing this one in this version so it brightened my day.

I knew and came to love CSNY’s version long before I ever heard Joni’s original. Initially, I was a bit underwhelmed, but I’ve since warmed to it and nowadays like it as much as CSNY.

Christian, I’m not sure which version I heard first, but isn’t there another cover of it out there? Just found it. It’s by Matthews Southern Comfort. I remember when I first heard it on the radio, I was p*ssed off, but over time I got used to it (which I never should have.) It’s like taking a perfectly cut diamond and slicing a few more pieces off of it in hopes it will be prettier. Not going to happen. I see both Joni’s and CSNY’s versions as diamonds.

I think I might have heard Matthews Southern Comfort’s version before. It vaguely sounded familiar. I actually don’t think it’s bad, though I prefer Joni’s original and CSNY’s rendition. MSC’s version is closer to CSNY, and it’s probably impossible to improve on their incredible harmony vocals.

I love that video. My girls got me Joni’s latest archive CD set for my birthday, which has a concert in 1972 at Carnegie Hall that my friend Marilyn and I attended, so I was listening to that concert version today. Thinking of Marilyn and hoping her spirit was listening with me up there in the stars. Your message from the Oracle says yes, yes she was. (K)

Congrats on the archive CD set! Your daughters know you well and that is a comfort I’m sure. I’m so glad that Marilyn sent a message through the Oracle for you <3

Thank you, Max. Question: did you send me that Geo story yet? If so it didn’t arrive (unless I missed it which I don’t think I did…)

This is lovely. I’ve never understood how these Oracle poems come about, but I like the outcomes.
