Doodads — Meijer Garden on 1/23/24

DOODADS BANNER

Meijer Gardens is open late on Tuesdays and so it has become a non-weekend time and place  to meet up with younger son, his wife, and the grandbaby.  In this Doodads, you will see the usual lovely plants that momentarily make winter seem far away, but you will see that “the gardens” are also a place to see wonderful furniture and architecture.

This waiting area is right by where you buy tickets. They were setting up a function for the night otherwise the extra tables and chairs wouldn’t be there.

This is part of a very long corridor that winds through the main level. To the left is the giant terrarium of the tropical garden. Behind me are the arid, carnivorous, and Victorian gardens.  Also, those “critters” in the floor are inlaid brass (I think?) and make a sort of children’s pathway down the corridor.

This is a lounge area in the basement, just outside of one of the libraries. Pickles (new nickname for granddaughter) and I went in the library and I read her a story. Her mom and dad each took her in for reading stories also while we relaxed in the comfy chairs.

from a distance this looked like a painting. Up close you can see it’s a photo. Very beautiful.

It really is a place to relax away from home, especially when it’s almost empty compared to what it was like around the holidays. And being able to spend time with them and carry on a conversation with the grandbaby is the most precious thing in the world to me.

Yes it is, Sadje. I went to the FMG website and found out more info on the floor:

It’s a sanctuary in so many respects. They did a nice job on the place, and it has been bit by bit over the years. Basically they started with just the big terrarium and have steadily expanded from there.

I got a slight Frank Lloyd Wright feel out of it….and that is a great thing.

What a great looking place to visit. It reminded me of ‘The Eden Project situated here in Cornwall.

It really is. Would you like to say more about The Eden Project?

I would indeed. Would it be best if I did a post of my own about it?

What a beautiful and peaceful place! The large windows bring the outside in. And so great that it has a library. (K)

Yes it is! It’s like that all the way through. I think it has another library upstairs also.
