This past week was a whirlwind of activities and barely time to transfer photos from camera to computer to share.
This past Tuesday I was on my way to FMG when suddenly both lanes of traffic halted. It was difficult to see what was going on ahead, only that lanes were crawling. As my car’s CD player isn’t accepting discs, and blu-tooth is on the fritz *again* I was channel hopping on the radio. This informed at first that there was a vehicle on fire up ahead. I was supposed to meet up with fam at 4 and was stuck in the jam until almost 5, when lanes were about to open. As I didn’t want to see how much worse things could get with 5 o’clock traffic I took the next exit and drove side roads until getting back on the highway, headed home. Later I learned that a flat bed truck carrying two dumpsters full of debris had rolled off of the truck and was strewn across both lanes; no fire afaik.

Wednesday morning I opened door blinds on the door and saw the cutest little critter just sitting there, not moving. Usually squirrels run when they see this human, but not today.
On Thursday there were errands to run. Afterwards I decided to take a drive out near the inland lake that empties into Lake Michigan through a channel. It was such a beautiful day!
Thursday night Lady Luna was shining just right. I commented to my friend on fb that the last pic looks like the trees were playing moonball.

what a week Lisa! :-) busy, busy!
Lovely pics! All of them! X

I feel for you on the traffic jam. I use Waze now when I go to work…it will tell me if a jam is ahead and redirect me…Love the beach pictures!

I have to update this… Well today I was in a traffic jam this morning…then I got to my work and I was pulling in while a 23 year old kid was pulling out and he wasn’t looking…nailed me head on…I couldn’t blow the horn or backup fast enough. No one was hurt but now I have to deal with his insurance.

OH NO What a rotten thing to happen — and on a Monday :( Can you still drive your vehicle??

Yes…I’ve pulled the bumper as far away from the tire as I could. His insurance said someone will be calling me soon to get it fixed…we will see…so far though they have been really nice.

Hoping you have another way to get to work while they are repairing. Sometimes they will give you a loaner car?

Yea either that or I will have to work from home! Darn…I would just hate that lol.

A busy week for you! Traffic jams are quite frustrating and waste a lot of time

Especially when you are looking forward to seeing loved ones and have to wait :( I did get a chance to see everyone on Saturday :)

I totally get the feeling! I’m glad you could reschedule it.

Sorry about the traffic jam, one of the most irritating things in life. The squirrel and sunset are delightful.

Great pics, crappy traffic!

Grand Rapids is growing way too fast for its infrastructure to handle. I avoid it like the plague at around 5. Usually meet at FMG at 4, before the work rush, and leave around 6, when traffic has subsided somewhat.

That’s a good strategy

I doubt that squirrel could run very fast anyway :) Just look at the size of it’s belly! I liked the pinball playing trees.

Glyn, I think the squirrel may be pregnant, which would explain her pudginess :) Glad you like the pic.

After a couple of months where the full moon was eclipsed here by clouds, it was nice to see our trees play moonball as well this month, Lisa. Love that squirrel.🐿

Bruce, I can totally relate to what you’re saying.

Always nice reading your doodads and seeing your pics. At first I thought the gull tracks in grayscale was a pic of the moon surface, likely because of Odysseus – funny how the brain works!

Christian, who knows, maybe there are tracks like that on the moon :)

Excellent photos, all. But what a disappointment to be stuck in traffic.
That squirrel is as cute as can be.
And what more praise can I give to the moon? (K)

Wow, you DO keep busy all the time!! I loved the poem. I’m not sure if it was a haiku or not–I didn’t want to do any math and count, lol
Say cheese, indeed!
Great pics, but my absolute fav. is the squirrel. I wanted to step into that photo and just pluck him up!!!

Stacey, yesterday I posted one of the squirrel pics and compared the little critter to Totoro (from Studio Ghibli movie.)
How have you been, girlfriend?? I was thinking about you the other day.

Surviving! Freelancing all the frigging time!! Happy to have the work but apparently there are no full-time captioning/subtitling jobs left anywhere in the world anymore!!! So I haven’t been writing much and that pisses me off. BTW, did you ever finish that story you were writing? Still waiting to read it………! :)

Are captioning/subtitling a totally separate entity from dubbing? It seems like there are a lot more foreign films getting shown on streaming and a lot of times they do the captioning/subtitles as well as dubbing.
I’m not sure what story we were talking about, but it really doesn’t matter because I haven’t been writing on any longer stories, which is very frustrating. I need to get my priorities straight, because writing is what I love to do. Oh yes, I think we were talking about the Halloween story I wrote. I have been working on editing it because the tense is all over the place. I did get quite a bit of that done maybe all of it, and then started to fill in details and tweak it a little. I should get back to it. I will commit to getting back to that if you commit to writing more. I need more of your writing! One new “project” I’ve started is reading all of the Discworld books (there’s 40 or so.) Got all of them in e-book form for $18 and just started the 2nd book tonight. My younger son is a big fan and told me about that bargain. I really liked the first book and I want to read them to get closer to him.

Dubbing is laterally related to captioning/subtitling, only because it’s the exact same content, but it involves voiceover actors, not editors.
And yes, I think it was your Halloween story. I can’t pinky swear with you that I’ll commit to writing more…but if I don’t have to work both days this weekend, I WILL go to the library on Sunday to force myself to write, lol. But yeah, get back to that story, woman! I’ll be waiting in the wings…..
Meanwhile, nice that you’re getting into Discworld! Especially as a way to connect with your son. That’s very heartwarming. :) :)

Ah, OK. So they are making you work weekends? Can’t be fun :( You’re blessed that your libraries are open on Sundays! Will try to do more writing, but like you say, can’t pinky swear. The weather is getting nice out there and when it gets nice I’m out there :)

Yeah, it’s open, but only from 1-5. I get in right at 1 and start working and like five seconds later, it seems, it’s already 3, 4. It goes by too fast. But it’s something. The initial rush when the doors open for those racing for their favorite tables is a little comical. I have a favorite table, too, but I REFUSE to power walk through the library trying to beat an old man to my favorite table. So I usually end up at one of the “lesser” locations, lol.
Hey, enjoy that weather!

Oh how I love how you describe this. I have to ask: is it the main branch at the L.A. library? I ask because it features prominently in _The Library Book_, written by Susan Orlean and I like the idea of you being inside that space.

Ooh, I like that idea too, Li!! We visited the library like 15 years ago. But it’s too far away to journey to on a regular basis. I just looked up pictures of it to refresh my memory. It looks like a church in there, doesn’t it? Beautiful.
No, the Burbank library is much more humble and cozy. It’s nice. And I can walk there from home.
