Imelda’s Surprise
::knock knock::
The tall, oak door creaks open a crack. A cloudy wrinkle-encircled eye squints out at the crisply-uniformed figure.
“May I help you, Officer?,” whistles Hilda’s voice.
“Constable Willow here. May I come in?” asks the new appointee.
“Madame is having tea and mustn’t be disturbed. What’s this about?”
The Constable says, “Neighbors across the way have been noticing strange goings-on over here. I have a few questions for Madame.”
“I’ll let her know. May I have your card?”
Madame sits, sipping tea, just out of sight, listening, a smile playing around her lips. Imelda is in for a surprise.

Is it Imelda’s birthday and Constable Willow is a strip-a-gram? Or is he taking her away for a night of hot passion in the police cells? I am waiting to know, I hope it is neither of the above-do tell?

Constable Willow is a woman. It doesn’t mean she isn’t a birthday stripper or that she isn’t planning on taking Imelda away, at least not for a night of hot passion anyway… Good guesses, James :)

That’ll teach Imelda to spread rumours about strange goings on

Hmm, exactly what type of goings on are we talking about, Lisa? Could it be another huge shipment of contraband shoes? That Imelda!

Joy, so happy to have intrigued you. Like Crosby, Stills, and Nash sang, “There’s something happening here. What it is ain’t exactly clear.”

Hmm… so many different surprises that could be in store for Imelda. I hope she hasn’t been stealing Madame’s silverware and will soon be on her way to jail?

It’s distinctly possible. Thanks for reading and your creative guess.

Neighbors at it again. Eyeing and Spying LOL
This story can go in so many ways. I think the description of the door and her eye is perfection. I had to laugh, my sil’s name is Hilda. I also had a laugh with Imelda. My husband had his own moving business. He went to Manhattan to pack the Marcos household. Yes, it’s true. She had tons of shoes. And, they had all traditional Philippine dishes made of some kind of cane. They thought they were priceless … and her shoes. No one talks about the clothes. Yes, lots.
Anywho, I loved this story. Great one, Jade. 🤗

Hi Lisa, I read part 2 and came back for part 1 of the story. Nicely done. What happens next? Who killed Gekko?

Thanks, Smitha. There have been several theories put forth on who killed Gecko and what’s next, but at this time the theories will have to be enough :)
