This is a hodgepodge of pics from last month and up to today. Be ready for a fun video and a special surprise at the end.
On 3/23, I saw Pudgy Possum out in the daytime.
And now the special guest:

I’m sure Pudgy loves to raid my compost pile, for worms if nothing else.

Pudgy may be a momma or a momma-to-be :)

Hoping we’ll get to see the butterfly collage when completed. Mrs. Chess and I are big butterfly fans. That sunset looks gorgeous. We’re working hard to get some sun back here…after a week of rain we need it bad.🌞

Bruce, those images came from a fieldbook guide handed out at Meijer Gardens for their butterflies experience going on now there. All of those species are flying around in their tropical garden. You and Mrs. Chess would love it. Sorry to hear you’ve got the downpour going on. Today was the first sunny day here in awhile.

These have definitely made me smile! That possum does look well fed! and you know bluebirds are good luck, right?
I can’t wait to see what you do with the butterflies. (K)

Glad to make you smile, Kerfe. I think the possum lives under the dense evergreen shrubs (what the birch is lying on) as I’ve seen babies crawl out of there more than once. Yes on the bluebirds. At least one comes back every year. Sunshine brings good luck too ;) I have a plan for the collage and I may need to go bigger than my current 8.5 x 11 for it.

Loved the Pudgy Possum lol… I’ve grown to appreciate them since seeing them on the Ben’s channel and I see them here constantly. I always thought they were a rodent…it didn’t occure to me they had pouches and are part of the marsupial family.
I love the sunset picture!

What amazes me is they can hang upside down from those tails. They look fierce but are benign. Does Ben have them at his place as rescues or do they mosey in? I was stunned by the sunset last night.

Oh their tails are incredible. I’ve seen one play dead and then wake up…scared the heck out of me.
He has both…he found one and nursed it back to health and let it go but it kept coming back.
Oh that sunset…those colors were incredible.

I love to see images of flowers at this time of year when all around me the land is still asleep and frozen. And quite the capture of a possum!

Happy to brighten your day with the flowers. With the crocus and the daffodil bloom helleborus. My yard is a wildlife sanctuary and I’m sure the possums live here. The only thing that disrupts the peace are the neighbor’s cats that come over to hunt anything they can kill. I’d like to see one try and pounce on a possum!

Our neighbour’s cat visits our yard a lot and I suppose helps keep mice away. But Perry Como our inside cat goes all territorial growling at the window when he sees it.

The hawks and eagles keep the mice away around here. LOL on your cat’s name. I love it. I remember seeing him on TV and I’m sure my mom had at least one of his albums.

Thanks, Christian! I have a whole folder of March pics that haven’t been shared. These came from the most recent phone unload (I don’t keep many/any pics on my phone for long.) More doodads on the way or pics shared in other posts.

Man, I forgot how big those things get out there. The first time I got really high on weed I was driving home in the middle of the night and one wondered out in front of me and unfortunately I hit it but that thing was massive and it kind of blew my mind and freaked me out

To get really high on weed for the first time and hit an animal with your car would be: 1) a bad association with weed; and 2) a natural reason to freak out. Poor possum! Roads are like prisons for them. They try to break out and risk death for it.

Unfortunately the probability of animals becoming roadkill are quite high in those parts. I remember seeing and smelling a lot of especially deer disfigured on the sides of the road. Poor things
