with ikebana
crystal moment magnified
all else stripped away
past and present disengaged
tomorrow’s death unconceived
Note: this arrangement was on a counter near the coat racks at FMG this past Tuesday. There are always beautiful arrangements there. Not that coat racks aren’t pretty, but I finally figured out how to use the extract background feature of my photo editing app. Looking at it this way inspired the shadorma.

It’s a beautiful arrangement. This used to be all the rage here a few years ago. Now we hardly see them anywhere

The only place I’ve seen them is at fmg nowadays also. It was never the rage here but when I saw what was being done to the flowers (basically held in place on spikes) I didn’t like it. At least flowers in a vase of water can live for a bit. I agree about how beautiful they are, but oh the price they pay :(

I think they do it in a way that these flowers last f for a long time.

Maybe they treat the stems with something? I don’t know how they can last without water, but I’m no expert.

They do because I’ve seen them last for days.

That is a cool looking arrangement. I like the colors on the bottom of the off white and purple.

Yes, it is! There is a lot of care that goes into choosing each element of the arrangement. I wonder if they buy these from local florists because none of those flowers grow in the gardens inside or outside.

I would think so yes…no doubt.

Crystal moments do matter, Lisa though I disapprove such flower arrangements but they highlight a moment’s joy. Lovely poetry.

You’re welcome, Lisa, and apologies on misspelling “profound”!

It’s interesting as art, but nature really does a better job I think. I like your tanka though. It’s a good description of focus. (K)

Exactly, K. It’s art, not nature. Thank you :)

I really like this one, and the concept that once all else is stripped away it leaves “tomorrow’s death unconceived.”

Now I’ve learned two new words: ikebana AND shadorma. I’m feeling more and more confident that I’ll have something to offer if I ever attend a cocktail party, Li!
And good job on the background feature photo editing thingamabob. It worked well. It’s lovely!

Stacey happy to oblige you with two completely useless but useful bits of trivia :) Now that I have learned how to extract a background, I need to know how to lay it on another background. On my photo editing bucket list (PEBL.)

Always useful, Li, even though I forget immediately. But I’m hoping the seeds get planted deeply, lol.
Good luck with your next photo editing goal! You’ll figure it out, no problem. And your brain will be massaged and kept young in the process! :)
