The time before this recent time I went to get my oil changed at the nearby shop, the manager said my oil wasn’t dirty, so come back in another 2,000 miles. Not sure how many of you have had such an experience, where you get sent away from the oil changing shop not being asked to buy or pay for anything, but it’s the first time ever for me.
Anyway, it appears that manager didn’t last long (lol.) The new guy was training a newbie and so went through every possible ask-to-buy item in the book. I said no to the must-have $100 oil and said the synthetic blend I’d been using for 10 years was just fine.
When they got to the air filter, a hum of voices arose between the techs at work under the hood. The new guy walked over with my air filter in his hand and said, “I think you’re going to need a replacement for this.” I could see them pulling the shredded material out of the box where the filter sat.
I asked him, “What the heck happened to it?”
His reply: “A mouse.”
That’s one big-ass hole for a mouse I thought.
Speaking of one big-ass mouse, I’m sure most have heard that the copyright has expired on Steamboat Willie, the predecessor to Mickey Mouse. I was talking on the phone the other day and doodling. I came up with a new rodent in the lineage: Mickey Louse. Maybe it was Mickey Louse and his gang that shredded the air filter?

OH geez! It had to take some work to get up in there! They can cause some damage…I’m glad they left your wires alone. It doesn’t surprise me but it does as well…that it managed to get to that.

I’m amazed it didn’t seem to affect the car’s performance at all. Thank you micies for not chewing the wires.

Yes…be thankful. They can get into spaces that is incredible.

Once my AC didn’t work – it was mice, a bunch of them. Real nasty mess… Mice in cars is a very common problem.

Can’t even imagine them surviving in an AC! They must climb in in winter to stay warm? Why did a mouse chew a whole that big if it was just to get in?

Mickey Louse!😂 Not bad, Li!

I can see Mickey Louse becoming the next big movie franchise, but I suspect Disney won’t be producing it. As for that air filter, that is a first for me, Lisa. I had no idea those were so tasty.🙂

Bruce it would make a great expose to be narrated by him. I remember seeing some of those penny riding toys for kids that were outright lewd. It was shocking! And yes, those filters now look like those crispy sugar wafers :)

Max is right, very lucky it didn’t go for the car’s wiring. I like the new mouse! Maybe keep that drawing in the car… if mice are territorial (?) it may help ward off others.

LMAO, Steve. For sure!

Ha ha (to Mickey Louse) and, wow, I’ve never heard of mice munching on car air filters – yikes, good thing that creature didn’t eat other part of your car!

Reminds me of the time a squirrel took up residence in my son’s car engine. Twas the fan belt that did him in, poor guy. Talk about crispy critters! When the odor started coming through the air vents, we knew something was not quit right under the hood.
Steamboat Willie; great memories! I like your Mickey Louse! 🐭

Glad to know squirrels can invade cars also but hope they stay the hell out of my ride from now on. The techs didn’t mention and cut up bodies in there and never a raw odor in through the vents thankfully. Glad you like M Louse :)

It took a while for the odor to finally be gone. Overall, it was a pretty nasty situation. 🥴 🤢

I like your doodle mouse! hee hee!
So amazing to see that air filter all chewed up! Hope the new one stays mouse free! M daughter’s car once had a squirrel’s nest up in the engine part of the car, with it’s hoard of nuts. haha :)

Yes, I was freaked and glad to remember to ask to get a picture of it. So funny about your daughter’s car with the nest and hoard :)

What if it was a moose rather than a mouse? :)

That would explain it :)

Rodents seem to love automobiles. A big problem even here in the city. (K)

Did they find the mouse or did it split.

They didn’t say. I hope they got that little vermin out of there!

One of my Kiddo’s had an issue with mice chewing cables on the outside of their home! You’d think the mouse might get a shock?
The rodent must have been aiming for nesting material. I can imagine some big Mama Mouse ripping that filter to shreads in just one evening while you were cutting Zzz’s :)
Yep you have to look out for yourself not to be scambozzled. Hope that new filter can be sprayed with rodent retardant!!

So interesting and horrible at the same time to have mice chewing cables on the outside of their home. What would the purpose be, I wonder? I think the filter material would make a cozy nest.

I think the mice were just trying to make more room via the hole that the wire came out of the house so they could get in! :)

Usually they are minimalists, but they sure went overboard on the air filter. Of course they needed a streamlined route into your offspring’s house :)

Only good thing about the neighbors who let their – ‘mousers’ out – at one time we had ’em… but I think we were able to block entry points. :)
