Arise! (for Kamala)
I’m not real hyped-up on the 2024 Olympics. Too many other things on my mind. Like America floundering with the shadow of fascism. Like innocent women calling 911 and being shot in the face by psycho cops. Like genocide taking place overseas with our financial blessings. Like Russia waiting, rabid vultures.
I loved watching Snoop Dogg do his moves while carrying the torch. I enjoy seeing clips of smiling faces and fit bodies wearing medals on the podium. You can have the rest.
Season ripening
between heat, stench, and disease
phoenix rise o’er games.
Frank is today’s host for dVerse’ Prosery Monday. Frank wants us to write about 2024 Summer Olympics.

speaking my heart., thank you. msjadeli

Gillena, thank you. Like Star Wars movies, with the line, “Save us, Obi Wan, you’re our only hope,” I feel that way about Vice President Harris <3

Well said, Lisa! If only we treated our politics like an olympic sport, instead of the nihilistic bloodsport it’s become.

Every single thing you have weighing on your mind, is weighing heavily on mine too. Humanity is broken and lost. Really great and meaningful haibun, Lisa. 🙏

MM, I sincerely think it is on a lot of peoples’ minds these days. This waiting and waiting until November has me on edge. Thank you.

There is so much in the world that is not great or helpful at all. I understand your feelings and frustrations. I have them as well.
I do think it is good for the world athletes to come together peacefully to compete for recognition.

Dwight, I appreciate your support. I want my little granddaughter to grow up in a land of freedom, not fear and control.
I’m not anti-Olympics at all, just too distracted by other things. I’m with you, any time people can come together peacefully, with benevolence in their hearts, is a good thing.

I hear what you’re saying, Lisa! As you know, I can give or take the Olympics, but I too have my eye on what’s going on around the world. It’s like all the sport is a red herring to take our attention away from what really matters.

I feel as if we’re living in a dystopian world. Like the ones in movies and books. A “Hunger Games” of real life. Sad…

Yes, it’s just like that. Sometimes my dreams world feels much more sane than my waking hours one. I have faith in the cyclicity of things and keep waiting for this madness to wane.

Frank and sensitive, and I do agree, it is difficult to find the enthusiasm these days…very nicely put

I am one of those folks who really enjoys the ceremony/pomp/circumstance/rivalry/competition of the Olympics. HOWEVER as soon as it ends, I am back on the Kamala/her VP pick … cheering them on, doing everything in what little power I possess to ensure their victory!!!

Thank you. I hope she is wise when it comes to picking a running mate. The frontrunner she is considering (per the press) worries me more than a little.
