We met up at fmg on Tuesday, as we have all summer. We headed back to the recreation of the farm from Lena’s childhood and planned on taking a back route over to the Japanese Garden, but there was work going on in that area, so it was gated off. Instead we took a boardwalk all along the bayou on one edge of the property. *So*many* water birds! The water was quite shallow. We saw multiple turtles swimming underwater along the edge. The fairly narrow boardwalk gets a lot of foot traffic. Grandbaby found an inflatable yellow beach ball with a smiley face and she kicked it along as well as gathered a pocket full of leaves along the way.
The first two pics were taken on Monday. Older son told me about overnight oatmeal and I tried it. Recipe: 1/3 dry oatmeal, 1/3 plant milk, 1/3 yogurt. Mix this together and let sit overnight in the fridge. I added a small amount of raisins to the mix. In the morning, the raisins were reconsituted and the oatmeal was creamy. I added cinnamon and a little maple syrup. Delicious! The other pic are some of the tomatoes and peppers from the garden. The tomatoes are meaty and good in sauce or for canning; the peppers kind of blah tasting but very colorful.

Exactly, Christian. When we go through the admission area we show ID and our membership cards. The volunteer person sometimes offers to stamp our hands. This time they didn’t offer, and she asked the person, “would you stamp my hand?” on her own initiative. I thought that was SO cute and brave of her to ask.

They are! I won’t grow them again, but I plan on saving the seeds to donate to the seed bank.
