Succumbed
Velvet cape whooshes, silk soft in shadows
As evening’s cricket choir abruptly codas.
Moon slithers, ambivalent, behind clouds.
Pulse of innocence quickens with her steps.
Irresistible aroma of sweat and fear goads my
Ravenous appetite, compels my predation.
Evermore I succumb to soul-stealing ways.
Dora is today’s host for dVerse’ Quadrille Monday. Vampire is the word to use for the quadrille form poem. I “like” vampires so much that I decided to write a 2nd poem.

I like your second one, romantically creepy!

Skillful spinning of words into a darkly seductive atmosphere and an insatiable mood, Lisa. Love it!! Thanks for including the delightful Baudelaire reading too.

Dora, I see the parallels of predator and prey that may never be reconciled when it comes to vampires. Thank you and happy to share the poem.

I like this…I doubt if I could come up with any kind of vampire poem, but you do have a feel for these things.

Di, thank you. Like Bjorn said about his poem, he based it on Sting’s song, “Moon Over Bourbon Street.”

I really liked this one, Lisa. I love the decadent description of the cloak, the moon, and her aroma. I also liked the perspective of the vampire feeling compelled and thus succumbing.

I love how the whoosh of the velvet cape announces your second vampire, Lisa, and the sibilant ‘silk soft in shadows’.

Laura, thanks. I imagine this is the way of most/all predators.

You really got into this one, Lisa. Guess you are fascinated by vampires as well..

I am fascinated by them because they are “dolled up” for multi-media creations, but they are a metaphor for some real humans out there. Know thine enemy is a prudent practice.
