I could have and probably should have taken a bike ride today as it was so beautiful out there, although things are cooling down. Instead, I took at drive north, to Cherry Point Farm and Market, the place that has both of those things and includes the “labyrinth” I’ve written about before.
I bought honey crisp apples, asparagus strudel (not sweet) and cherry strudel (yum!) Also I talked to Barbara E. Bull, the owner of the place and an author of many books about Cloud Cottage. I just started reading the book again which gave me the idea to drive up there. I wasn’t expecting her to be running the cash register today. It was quite busy there also, with people taking Sunday drives. I was able to ask her if Cloud Cottage is a real place. She said no, but she said if it did exist it would be at a place she described and I knew exactly where that place was. Seriously, I have fantasized about having a cottage there many times! I also asked her about what I called the stone pit on the property. She said, “that’s the word garden.” I will be saying more about the word garden in another post (when I host TankaTuesday on October 22.)
After the market, I drove the few miles to Silver Lake, took a left at Mac Woods Dune Rides (closed for the season) and followed the road that snakes through natural areas and nice homes. I took the pics of the trees in a roadside park on a lake? river? creek? There was a strange feel to the place and the trees reflect it (or did the trees give me the creeps?)
I drove along Lake MI and got to Little Point Sable Park that has the lighthouse. It was cold and blustery and I brought no jacket and so enjoyed the view from the car. Then I kept driving until the road ended. Looking to my left and up, I gazed upon the hill Cloud Cottage rests on in my (and Barbara’s!) fantasies. Looking straight ahead, I saw that a piece of property that had been for sale there forever has been sold. Installed there now is a sign:

You have a wonderful day Li. Love the pictures and that signpost is just awesome

Me too. Almost makes me want to put it to the test. Almost. Yes I did, thanks. Hope you did also, Nancy.

Thank you, Lisa. I did! I went for 3 walks outside today! I’m still restricted to flat surfaces, at least for another month, but I feel strong even using the cane, which is more for balance and not ass a crutch. I still have a way to go but I’ve made much progress. 🤗

Nancy, I’m so happy to hear you are on the mend. Back surgery ain’t no joke. Are you on painkillers?

I was, absolutely, but I’m off now. It’s not the easiest going without them but in the long run, it’s for the best. Thanks, Lisa.

I always enjoy your pics, Lisa. Looks like you had beautiful weather. Those trees do look a bit creepy, especially the one of the left side. Usually, I don’t find signs that scream “private property” particularly pleasant, though this one gave me a good laugh! :-)

Thanks, Christian. I’m about to check out your Sunday 6 in a minute. Was gone quite awhile today and got behind.

No worries, Lisa. Please don’t ever feel like you have to comment on my posts. Of course, I like reading your thoughts, but I never want this blogging thing feel like an obligation! :-)

I know but I still like to make sure and listen to your Sunday Six. Have a great night, Christian and a wonderful Monday.

Loved the sound of the wind in the video…those trees could star in a Hammer Horror…they are creepy.
The sign…I like it! lol

Yes, that place with the trees is dead quiet. You walk over a small bridge and once you do you feel like you’re in another realm, a dark one! I’m not sure how I feel about the sign. Part of me wants to laugh. The other part thinks what arrogance!

It looks like they did that sign to be funny…I had to laugh.
The sign that got my attention…wasn’t meant to be funny at all…but it sure was ironic….”New Hope Cemetery”

It was delish. So was the asaparagus. The same kind of super flaky crust used on both.

I can’t argue with the yum factor there. :-D

What a pretty place. The one pine tree is amazing! How did it grow like that? I enjoyed the video. It was windy as all get out yesterday.

Colleen, I have no idea how it got like that. I don’t see how the one trunk on the other tree fell and left the other trunk standing either! I was so cold yesterday with the wind.
