POPO2024 Day 52

52 1921

In my 60+ years, I’ve been stung once,
30+ years ago, when I barefooted a bee.
Since, have walked through humming
goldenrod and carpets of clover,
driven rider near a ground nest,
mowed under massive paper wasp
castles (all unbeknownst beforehand!,)
and was simply ignored. Could it bee (sic)
they perceive no ill intent? Do they know
me as stewardess of this plot of land?
I’d like to believe so.

I recently have five stings, I interrupted spring manoeuvres (I used to keep bees too) I didn’t have your good fortune.

Yipes! What are spring manoeuvres? Very cool on keeping bees. Maybe my theory is wrong and it’s just good fortune.

They do sense us, so I think you were right in your observation. I intruded in a space where the bees were scouting a new place for a colony and in early spring they are all astir. When I went to see what they were doing they got defensive and I knew I’d blundered, lol. They are very sensitive creatures. Not just good fortune. ❤️

I haven’t been stung by a bee since I was barefoot all the time as a child, but a wasp hanging around a fruit stand where I was shopping got me as an adult. It still swells up from time to time. (K)

K, I wonder if the stinger is still in there? Grandbaby feared no insect until she stung by a wasp a few weeks ago, like you, for no reason but the agitation of the wasp. Son said he swept it away and the stinger came out. Now she is afraid of bugs :(

That’s too bad but I understand totally.

My dermatologist knew what it was right away, and said the stinger must be buried deep inside.

My worst was when I mowed through some yellow jackets…about 5-6 stings…I was woozy. Wasps I’m allergic to but apparently not yellow jackets.

Max, “woozy” doesn’t sound good at all. Can’t imagine the pain of that many stings.

No it wasn’t at all…and Jen and Bailey had gone to her mothers when it happened…after a couple of hours I was ok..

Oh dear :( I’m glad your body was strong enough to fight off the poison.

  5. I vote for that interpretation.
Can you talk to them for me, please… I’m highly allergic. :-D
