I found a labyrinth at the gardens
at the end of an unfamiliar path,
a quiet space fenced off from
thoroughfare. While my sons sat
on a bench and caught up and
3 year-old granddaughter chased
after her new ball, I walked it under
sun-dozing trees. Nothing special
tingled or vibed other than
a sense of profound happiness.

That’s so nice.

Makes me dizzy just trying to trace you possible route visually.

Judy this is the “standard Chartres” pattern. Back in France, the monks (or priests?) used to traverse it on their knees. It’s bigger than it looks so you probably wouldn’t get dizzy.

That’s a day worth remembering.

So true, Randy. Every visit there adds a page to the memory book.

It was a delightful find! I do not remember any mention of it on the website. There is a small garden inside where trees reach to the sky that they never explain either.

I don’t think I’m good at figuring out labyrinths, given I generally have a terrible sense of orientation! Luckily, “your” labyrinth is one where you cannot seriously get lost. As such, I guess it would be my type of labyrinth! :-)

labyrinths only have one way in and one way out. impossible to get lost. one foot in front of the other will take you through it and then back out. no worries, Christian :)

Those are really cool. I’ve been in a few built with hay and one like The Shining with the hedges.

Yes they are, and tools for spiritual seekers. Labyrinths aren’t mazes. Mazes have false turns, dead ends, etc. Labyrinths are only one way in and one way out by following the path, step by step. The ones I have seen also are flat on the ground.

Ok…I never knew the difference between the two…learning something every day!

When I think about how I got started with labyrinths I’m amazed how way leads on to way. Remember the guy who followed the thread to get out of the labyrinth after killing the minotaur? It’s a powerful metaphor.
Hope you are enjoying your Thursday, Max. It’s been one heck of a whirlwind week here.

Oh cool…I like learning and I did today.
I overslept this morning but thats ok…since I’m pretty much 24/7 on call…I don’t really care lol.

24/7 on call sounds like a lot of pressure. Never feel guilty for oversleeping. It’s the best gift you can give yourself. Hope you had sweet dreams.

Yea I’ve grown not to care if I’m late or leave early…I get everything done so that is what matters.

That would make a great tattoo. I can see it along the side of one of my calves.
