2024 in books

Not sure how I copy and pasted the list last year but the above is the best I can figure out for this year. Lots of great reading done for 2024. Having an e-reader now has a lot to do with it.

Wow! These are a lot of books.

Probably the most I’ve read in one year since I was a teenager. I mowed through them back then. It was escapism from a lot of things. Maybe I’m trying to escape again? ;)

Fabulous, Lisa. Somehow, I am never successful in getting my Goodreads lists of books.

Thanks, Robbie. I get an email and then it also shows up at the site. Maybe there is something in the settings that needs to be checked. I know you can click the link by the challenge itself and it pulls down a photo gallery of the ones that have been read. I did a screen capture, saved it in jpg format. Hope that helps.

I think it is settings and the fact I have three profiles 🤦♀️

Chris, thanks! Do you know how to see others’ goodreads books for the year? I looked last night but couldn’t figure it out.

Mmm, not sure. I will have a little poke around on Goodreads, and I will let you know if I find anything.🤔

No, I can’t find anymore about Goodreads. I think it’s only by copy and paste from Goodreads into WP and see other people from there.

Thanks for trying, Chris :)

Hi Li, I have found it on Goodreads!
On your email look and see ‘Take a peek at your friends bookshelves.’
Go into he/hers and look at the bottom to see – ‘See more updates from (name)’ and there they are! On the right side, and see ‘2024 Year in Books’.
And there are also in the middle section (Updates) on your own Goodreads, the name (even easier).

Hope that makes sense!
PS – Merry Christmas ✨🎄☺️

Confession, after years of reading a lot of fiction I fell out with its predictability. I came back to it slowly via European and Asian
writers who seemed to be less predictable. I know that sounds very judgy but it’s just how I am I guess – I always worry people will ask me to read their novels in progress., lol. I really do love non-fiction, and I’m fairly eclectic as I love to be stretched and challenged.

I appreciate you sharing your reading preferences and how you got there. No crime in being picky. There are only so many hours in a day. I like to stay eclectic. Back in the day I had to read so much for school it put me off of reading altogether for a few years. Thankfully I got my reading mojo back. I think you’ve quoted both Chuck Palahniuk and Tom Robbins before? And Murakami. I adore all 3 of these writers.

Ah yes, those three I like very much, I love creative thinkers. I do like crime writers like Fred Vargas (an alias for a female writer), Henning Mankell, because they made me work the mystery.

Nicely done! I am almost finished a book, that will bring my total to 20 (might even be able to squeeze in another before December 31). Short of my goal of 30 but hey. We have two books in common: Rochelle’s Last Dance and Fredrik Backman’s Anxious People. Looks like it was a Terry Pratchett year for you!!

Thanks, Dale. I just finished another book today so it won’t make the pic. I usually set a goal I don’t make, but because I bought the “Pratchett Bundle” at a steal and got an e-reader it made it possible. Am guessing I’ll raise the bar for 2025. I really liked both books we both read.

Wonderful! I raised the bar this year. I used to read so much more once upon a time. Now, I’m thrilled if I read 20! I am still putting my goal at 30 for 2025 and hope to do better.
I really enjoyed those two, as well.
