Holidays are Bright

It took me a week to get these solar candy canes to work.  First, I didn’t realize there was an on/off switch on them.  Then I didn’t realize there was a film of plastic on each solar charger.  It took me a bit, but here they are.  Aren’t they pretty!

Do you have any holiday decorations that light up in your yard?

They ARE very bright. A guy at work I talked to said the very same thing about some solar lights he got. He sent them back because they “didn’t work.” Well the charger panel was covered by plastic.

That’s funny about your friend. Glad I wasn’t the only one. About an hour after taking that pic I looked out and they were already out. Going to try turning the switch off during the day as they charge and see if they last longer. It’s a fun little experiment.

I wish solar panels were more affordable for houses… we would get them. If I see a few today I’ll get some.

  4. Not a single one, Lisa. In fact, our lights are broken and I haven’t had time to purchase more so nothing is lighting up this year. Well done on getting these working.

Robbie, that’s the *only* lights and if I hadn’t seen them on a clearance rack there wouldn’t be any. All my decs are out in the garage, where they’ve been for a couple of years now :(

Even simple technology is complicated. Don’t feel bad, I am the kind of person who says if i can’t figure it out… then I will read the directions! :>( Not always the best results as you might guess.

LOL, Dwight. Today I turned them off and just went out to turn them back on. All nice and bright. I know if you can’t fix it, it’s unfixable :)

My old boyfriend was handy like that. I used to say, “If it was made by humans he could fix it.”

Yes they are. They brighten up the yard. I wonder what the night critters think of them.

  10. It looks to me like those canes need four dancing characters.
