At first I thought that was your gas prices! I thought dang!
I just got gas today for 2.69. I never understood why gas is so many different prices everywhere around….in each state! I understand state to state because of state taxes. I’m just glad I don’t live in California. I don’t see how they afford to drive at all.

Our gas was $3.17 on Weds.

I remember my mom was pissed in the seventies during the oil embargo… it was .60 cents!

Our Meijer in East Lansing has been pretty stable in prices. I expect it all to go insane!

Honestly, I don’t know what to expect anymore.

I expect the worst. If it doesn’t happen, I’m pleasantly surprised. 🤣

You couldn’t even get eggs here for awhile. Different stores have wildly different prices, so you have to know where to go to get what. Luckily, gas is totally out of my orbit, although they do want to raise electricity some ridiculous amount of money–the state is pushing back. We’ll see what happens. I do not expect expenses to go down, that’s for sure.

My January electric bill was $321 and that was with the supplemental wood heat. Highest bill ever :(

Wow. Of course I live in an apartment, but that’s a lot. Mine are usually around $100 in winter. Still a lot. I remember $30 bills.

I know! I thought the wood heat would lessen the bill, but simply having the atrium in use was a big mistake. It’s closed off but still stays an even 40F, which is enough to keep the plants alive. Not happy, but they’re alive. The light still gets in through the inside sliders which is always welcome. The thing about this house is that *everything* is electric, not just the heat.

We are so energy dependent. It’s hard to know what to do.

p.s. I keep my heat at 62.

As you know, my building decides on the heat which is steam. I have LED bulbs and energy efficient appliances, but really the cost here is in “connectivity” charges over which you have no control. My actual usage does go up in summer with AC, but otherwise, it doesn’t vary that much.

It’s the economy, stupid.

Not calling you stupid, obviously, but even the US can’t really control global inflation. Lots of governments swinging right recently.

Not sure how to respond to this briefly, so I will say we are more f***ed after 2 weeks of him as the puppet of the nazi than we were before. The image is more about how he brags and lies than anything.

His narrative of Ukraine starting the war is pretty stupid. I’m sure it’s more complicated than I understand, but Russia invaded the Ukraine.

When does the professed “golden age” begin, I wonder…

By golden age, do you mean when they siphon the rest of the gold from us little people? I think it’s well under way…

Yes, a golden age for the oligarchs at the expense of the rest of us.
