The Killers are a band that older son introduced me to way back when, with this album, Hot Fuss. I listened the grooves off of that album! Every song is a winner to me, but Andy, You’re a Star is probably my favorite.
Hot Fuss is the debut studio album by American rock band the Killers, released on June 7, 2004, in the United Kingdom and on June 15, 2004, in the United States by Island Records. The album’s music is mostly influenced by new wave and post-punk. Hot Fuss spawned four critically and commercially successful singles: “Mr. Brightside”, “Somebody Told Me”, “All These Things That I’ve Done” and “Smile Like You Mean It”.
Somebody Told Me is one of the 4 singles released from the album. It was released on March 15. It was written by Brandon Flowers, Dave Keuning, Mark Stoermer, Ronnie Vannucci, Jr. –info from wiki
Breaking my back just to know your name
Seventeen tracks, and I've had it with this game
A-breaking my back just to know your name
But heaven ain't close in a place like this
Anything goes, but don't blink, you might miss
'Cause heaven ain't close in a place like this
I said, a-heaven ain't close in a place like this
Bring it back down, bring it back down tonight
(Ooh, ooh, ooh)
Never thought I'd let a rumor ruin my moonlight
Well, somebody told me you had a boyfriend
Who looked like a girlfriend
That I had in February of last year
It's not confidential, I've got potential
Ready let's roll onto something new
Taking it's toll, then I'm leaving without you
'Cause heaven ain't close in a place like this
I said, a-heaven ain't close in a place like this
Bring it back down, bring it back down tonight
(Ooh, ooh ooh)
Never thought I'd let a rumor ruin my moonlight
Well, somebody told me you had a boyfriend
Who looked like a girlfriend
That I had in February of last year
It's not confidential, I've got potential
A-rushing, a-rushing around
Pace yourself for me (For me)
I said maybe, baby, please
But I just don't know now (Baby, baby)
When all I want to do is try
Well, somebody told me you had a boyfriend
Who looked like a girlfriend
That I had in February of last year
It's not confidential, I've got potential
A-rushing, a-rushing around
Somebody told me you had a boyfriend
Who looked like a girlfriend
That I had in February of last year
It's not confidential, I've got potential
A-rushing, a-rushing around
Somebody told me you had a boyfriend
Who looked like a girlfriend
That I had in February of last year
It's not confidential, I've got potential
A-rushing, a-rushing around

I like the Killers — great song choice !

I do too, Chris. Thanks! I have at least a few of their albums.

I only have em on my IPod, so it would have been a download of a couple of their goodies, and probably not a whole album. I do that- I cherry pick.

That’s what I know my older son does. Not sure about my younger son.

It’s very convenient, but I do miss analog.

Good stuff, Lisa! Essentially, I only know The Killers by name. When sampling some of the album’s tracks, I recognized two songs: “Somebody Told Me” and “Mr. Brightside.” Based on Spotify streaming stats, it appears these two are their most popular songs. “Andy, You’re a Star” sounds pretty good as well!

Hot Fuss is an excellent album. So is Sam’s Town. I have Pressure Machine, which is more subdued, about small town living, reminds me of some of Springsteen’s more subdued albums. Also have Live from the Royal Albert Hall and Sawdust but haven’t listened to those much yet. Flowers has a kickass voice and his humility never fails to impress me. He sang on the Dhani organized Geo tribute album also.

I am a late comer to The Killers as well. Love their music and their back story. Their concert video at Royal Albert Hall is a pleasure.

Sean, glad you like them. I had no idea there was a video for the Royal Albert Hall album. Now need to go find it.

Love the Killers (now that’s not a phrase I thought I’d type out) :)

LOL, Paul. I don’t think they thought it out when they decided on a name for their band.

Barbara, me too. There is something so appealing and sexy about Brandon’s voice. He knows how to use it to perfection. Glad you liked hearing this one again.

Haven’t heard those, Glyn. Maybe when I finish the Midnight Oil Day project, I’ll seek those out.
