Hello Dear Readers and Listeners! I’m excited to say that today begins the 6th year of Women Music March.
This month of a-female-musician-a-day many times introduces these talented individuals to myself as much as to you. The list of musicians grows organically. As I hear –and hear about– female musicians I add them to my list. This is an explanation of Women Music March and also a request: if you know of any good women musicians, especially those outside of the U.S., PLEASE send them to me or leave their names in the comments (with a link to their music, if you have it.)
The format will be briefer this year. There will be at least one photo of the artist, a quote by the artist, a brief blurb about when they were born and where they are from and info on parents/sibs, a link to their official website (if there is one; if there isn’t, a link to more info,) and at least one music video of them.
And… there will be THREE Guest Writers this month!
OK, now that introductions have been done, let’s get started, shall we.

Looking forward to this series. I have ran across her name before but never heard her…that name sticks with you. She sounds really good…reminds me of the 60s/70s singers/songwriters era.

Max, I am too (looking forward to WMM) I like the calm music and the narrative in her lyrics here.

Thats why it reminded me of that time period I talked about…the laid back tone.

An artist that I wish I had more time for as I think she’s quite a thoughtful songwriter. This is a great start Lisa, looking forward to the March!

This is a great series, Lisa, and I look forward to additional installments. With Dar Williams, I think you’re off to a neat start. This is the first time I hear about this singer-songwriter. With 14 studio albums and one live release (based on Wikipedia), she has decent-size catalog. :-)

So many good songs, and I love her work with “Cry Cry Cry” as well. “The Christians and the Pagans” always makes me smile–the perfect Christmas song. (K)

Penell is a lovely band with a female vocal that is just….beautiful. Especially for their song “send forth the labours”.

Here in Massachusetts, she’s affectionately known as “Dah.”

Lovely song. Thanks for the introduction to this talented artist, Li.
Thanks for the invitation to suggest. A Canadian woman in music who comes to mind is Sarah Slean; a real favourite of my sweety and me. Here’s a beautiful song by her, “The Rose”: https://youtu.be/V4cTksLfk48?si=Av-tnJV95UGs5Xhh

Yes I liked her, too. You’re welcome, Li. Sarah is a wonderful musician with the voice of an angel. I look forward to seeing her on here in the future!
