Holly Near (b. 6/6/49 in Ukiah, CA) is an American singer-songwriter, actress, teacher, and activist. She was raised on a ranch in Potter Valley. She has two sisters, Timothy Near and Laurel Near, and a brother, Fred. One of her first cousins is actor Kevin Bacon (their mothers are sisters.) She was eight years old when she first performed publicly, and she auditioned for Columbia Records when she was ten.

I remember my first Pete Seeger concert, being amazed and uplifted by thousands of people singing together. Then I saw Holly Near and she had us singing three different parts.

She sounds really good Lisa. Another I never heard of I don’t think….quite impressive on who she has worked with…that shows the talent level they and her have.

Another artist who is all new to me. Holly Near looks like an impressive lady. Her activism reminds me of Joan Baez.
