Women Music March 2025 – Day 7 — Victory “Vicki” Tischler-Blue (from The Runaways)

Vicki Blue

As a key member of the Runaways, Victory’s contributions to the band’s pioneering sound helped shape the landscape of rock music during the 70s and made a lasting impact by kicking down doors in a male-dominated field and paving the way for women in rock thus contributing to the band’s enduring legacy.  — from bio on the official website

I’ll admit to being a fan of The Runaways back in the day. Lita Ford was always my fav.

They were a cool rock/punk band. They gave more punch than the Bangles or Go Go’s….they were pioneers no doubt.

I really want to watch the movie she made about being in the group. Too much to watch/hear too little time!

Yea…I think they had bad management in Kim Fowler…I know a little about them….enough to be dangerous.

  3. Great pick, Lisa. I only knew the name The Runaways and didn’t realize Joan Jett and Lita Ford were both members and, of course, Vicki Blue. Looking at her, I’m reminded of Suzi Quatro.

Suzi Quatro is a name I know and maybe heard something by her on the radio. Guess who is going on to the list :)

Oh yeah!!! Love it! Definitely covering her at WMM at some point. She’s got that joie de vivre I like.

          1. Suzie Quatro was really rockin’. Now 74, she’s still active. Bless her! Here’s another goodie! :-)

I’d like to see these songs get remastered.

              1. I haven’t checked but would assume there are remastered versions.

I always knew them as a band, not individuals–but they all deserve their own praise. (K)

Kerfe, you knew more than I did. I knew Joan Jett’s name and her other band but not this one. Will be covering at least one more of the band this month. You’re right, they do. If you go to Victory’s website you’ll see she’s doing very well.

I remember a lot of sexualized hype around the Runaways back in the 1970s. It is sad that they were abused and exploited, instead of being helped and guided as young women in a male-dominated industry.
