Eilen Jewell performing at the MainStage at Treefort Music Fest 2017 in Boise, Idaho.

“Up to that point, I’d just been going with the flow and letting outside forces dictate the path of my life,” Jewell explains. “Losing so much so fast forced me to figure out what really mattered. It made me realize that I’ve only got this one life, and I’d better get behind the wheel if I want to make the most of it.” – from Eilen’s website
Eilen Jewell (b. 4/6/79) is an American singer-songwriter from Boise, Idaho. There isn’t a lot of background info on her that I could find. I did find out that her band is The Eilen Jewell Band and the very talented lead guitarist is Jerry Miller.
She has released 13 albums. Allmusic listed 10 of her albums, with 9 of them listener-rated at 4.5 of 5 (the other one at 4.) I came across her on spotify with her cover of Green River and was immediately impressed at the soul she infuses the song with.

She has such a fabulous voice and body of work ❤️

She’s fabulous! I recently included Sea of Tears in one of my stories.

Sounds great, Nancy. Will you share a link to your story also?

I’d be happy to if you want to read it but the story is not about Eilen Jewell or even music. The title of the song fit the theme of my story, The Stain.

Kerfe, this has to be a first. I’m glad I was the one who introduced you to her. I think she was on a Spotify Release Radar one week.

You have my full attention, Lisa, Eilen Jewell sounds great! :-)
The funny thing is I immediately recognized her name and her face, so searched my blog to see whether I covered her before. Usually, I’m pretty thorough when it comes to adding tags to my posts, so unless I forgot to do it in her case, it appears I haven’t covered Jewell to date. Yet I still recognized here right away – hm…
As I said at the outset, I’m definitely intrigued by the songs you highlighted here, so I’ve earmarked Jewell for my “Sunday Six” feature. I suspect she’s going to make an appearance there in the near future. When she does, I’ll give you a shout-out! :-)

Christian, so cool. Happy to hear you like her and she’ll make a “Sunday Six” appearance. What do you think of the guitarist? I love his sound!

I never heard a woman sing Green River…that was a great version! One of Those Days sounds really good as does Worried Mind. I will check this lady out.

Love that cover of CCR. Her delivery suits me. I like that easy, not pushed vocals she has.
