wiki:
Demetria Devonne “Demi” Lovato (b.8/20/92) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She was born to former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Dianna De La Garza (née Lee Smith.) Her mother is of Irish descent. Her father, Patrick Martin Lovato, was an engineer and musician who passed away in 2013. He was of Nuevo Mexicano descent, with mostly Spanish and Native American ancestors, and came from a family that has been living in New Mexico for generations; he also had distant Portuguese and Jewish ancestry. Shortly after Lovato’s second birthday, her parents divorced. Demi has an older full sister named Dallas, a younger maternal half-sister, actress Madison De La Garza, and an older paternal half-sister, Amber.

I love love love that version of “Papa was a Rolling Stone”–wow on both Slash and Demi and the whole band. Thanks! (K)

K, I love seeing her sing while the oldtimers play. Knowing the story of her relationship with her dad makes it all the more poignant and powerful to me. I love what you can find without looking on YouTube.

I know! It’s easy to get lost there.

While I covered Demi Lovato’s “Dancing With the Devil” in an April 2021 at the time her album of the same name came out, I haven’t explored her further. Unfortunately, this happens with most artists I feature in my weekly new music review posts, who are new to me. Slash’s and Lovato’s cover of “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” isn’t bad!

Christian, I’m glad you’re looking to see if you’ve covered any of the women in WMM. The more awareness they exist the better. I agree with the Slash/Lovato & Friends tune. It meshes so well with her life story.

I’ve heard of her… I love the Temptations cover. That is awesome…never heard a female sing that…it fits.

I love it too, and love Slash and the other Old Gold Players backing her up.
