Old Dairy Building

Looking at pics of Kerfe’s doors for Thursday Doors and one building caught my eye.  It looks like a building here in town, or what it used to look like.  Back when I was a kid they still delivered milk in milk trucks.  This was one of the dairy delivery companies in town.  The front is to the right, around the corner from the big “231.”) but not on the side.  After seeing her post, I drove to the building after going to the library.  It looks quite a bit different these days and houses a surplus thrift store.

It used to have blond bricks, but now they are painted grey.

It’s still a handsome building. I remember getting milk deliveries when I was a child too. Different times. (K)

Yes it is, and it’s lucky to still be standing. They don’t subscribe to cherishing old architecture around here. They tore down most of our downtown back in the 70s and built a HIDEOUS mall. Now the mall is long-demolished :(

I never did like malls, but I don’t think they are all dead yet. But definitely on life support.

I like brown bricks but a lot of people are painting them now. It looks good here though. I remember milk being delievered at my grandmother’s house. Nothing tasted better coming out of those thick bottles. I swear it tasted better…but that is probably me just being a kid and loving it.

Grey paint seems to have become the new beige.

I miss having milk and other dairy products delivered, but without children at home, all grown, I don’t need it.
