Ginkgo
There are 3 small ginkgo out in the back field that I started from seed. They’ve never really taken off and it may be too wet and the deer may have nibbled one too many times. I do have one beauty that I bought from a local nursery that is really starting to thrive that’s in the back yard.

Grapes
Wild grapes grow here. They climb old fences and a hay bin out back. The ones out by the road get more plentiful every year, probably because of uninterrupted sunlight. So far I leave them alone. The critters are welcome to them.

Groundcover
The yellow is sedum and the purple is woolly thyme. These two thrive in the pH that the pine needles create. They are so pretty at any time of year.

Gargoyle
I’ve had this little guy for at least 25 years. He’s made of a composite and his coating is about worn off. He diligently guards the safety of hearth and home. He looks a lot like my furbaby, Chaun, who passed away in 2016.

my little buddy, Chaun

Aww, lovely little gargoyle – so cute!

What a lovely and heartfelt reflection on the beauty and meaning woven into your surroundings! From the resilient ginkgo trees to the wild grapes thriving in sunlight, your connection to nature shines through. The sedum and woolly thyme sound like a stunning, harmonious groundcover duo, thriving in their unique environment. And your gargoyle, with its decades of loyal service and resemblance to your beloved Chaun, adds such a personal and touching layer to your space. Thank you for sharing these glimpses of your world—it’s a beautiful blend of nature, memory, and love.

Love Chaun! So sorry he passed. I had two Boston Terriers over the years, they are my favorite breed. So smart and full of personality. The sweetest dogs! (Although I also had a pug who was pure joy!)

Dana, that’s so awesome you’ve had Boston Terriers to share your world with. You know their charm then :) Chaun was the first small dog I owned, and I got him after a blogmate shared how much he loved his dog, Candy. He took her everywhere, and that’s the life Chaun lead. He went with us *everywhere*!

They are such easy companions, up for any adventure! I miss mine so much. Now I’m just a kitty mom and quite happy with that.

Melissa he was one in a million. It’s why I don’t have the heart to get another dog. Still grieving for him.

Thank you for your always appreciated comments, Brenda. The yard is, now that I’ve gotten rid of so much of the poison ivy.

Thanks, Anne! I used to buy doodads from Paragon catalogue. I got quite a few really cool little odds and ends out of it.
