Music that strikes a chord — “Groundhog Day” by Double Trouble

I was listening to Doyle Bramhall II’s playlist this afternoon and Spotify played this after the playlist was done.  First time hearing it and ooh boy this song strikes a chord, both in lyrics and the badassery of the musicianship.

Looking little further into the context of this song, I learned that Groundhog Day (aka Ground Hog Day) is from the post-Stevie Ray Vaughn Double Trouble album, Been a Long Time, which was released in 2001.  Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon are the rhythm section from the original Double Trouble (unless someoneknows differently.)  As you can see from the album cover below, they pulled in the big guns to help them, including Doyle and his former Arc Angels bandmate, Charlie Sexton!  I will be looking this album up to hear the rest.

Now I extra love this…if that is a phrase lol… I like how they pumped the guitar up to 11. It’s tight, loud, and terrific.

Good way of describing it. When I was focused on doing something else and this took me away from it, I knew it was bad to the bone.
