Lucky Winners?
Rita’s mad skillz on musical trivia and speed-dialing have won her bistro vouchers, Ratt t-shirts, TayTay hats, and much more.
Rita is the tenth caller to WKRP and wins tickets for all-expense paid trip for TWO to an Idles concert in London.
Rita calls Harold with the news, saying, “Hare, this will give us a chance to spend quality time together.”
A four-hour layover in JFK and another in Manchester gives Rita and Hare dedicated talk time.
As the shuttle bumps them along to London, Rita’s chatter is dissolving Hare’s eardrums. Now he remembers why he works so much overtime.
[100 words]
Note: my original intention was to have Hare abandon Rita somewhere, but the muse had other plans.

I foresee a breakup in London

May be. Maybe he should sell his ticket to scalpers and use the $$ to sightsee or go out for a nice dinner.

I think you’re right. Hare likes peace and quiet.

I have a few friends who are incessant chatterers. No break from it would be deadly. (K)

Nothing like a long journey to see things more clearly. Just hope they make it back together. I’m assuming he kept his own ticket?

Indeed on all counts, Sandra.

Dear Lisa,
WKRP? Now that brings back some memories. I know people like that who make one’s ears fold in on themselves. Fun stuff. But poor Harold. A little like having his leg stuck in a bear trap I imagine.

Rochelle, lol on Harold. Poor guy may have to gnaw off his own leg.

This is the issue with quality time; it doesn’t mean the same thing for everyone.

That’s a hard realization to come to, when you finally have to time to relax together to find out you don’t really enjoy being together so much.

A friend once shared the secret her long marriage – spending time apart :D I love it when the muse wins :)

Poor Rita, she is trying too hard. to impress Harold. I can understand his irritation. Once the music starts, I am sure he’ll change his mind.

James I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on the situation. I think you are right about Rita. I think she is oblivious to how her actions affect Harold.

Can Rita be any more annoying than a gaggle of 12 year old girls… just ask my grandson! ;)

lol! My little granddaughter and chatter a mile a minute.

Not a very loving couple, although I do understand being annoyed at the constant chatter. At least they have the concert to look forward to.

Oh no! Hares have those long, erect ears. Maybe Rita will go hoarse, and they can find a nice farm. There’s your pun-ishment for the day. I don’t even like puns. I don’t know why my brain always goes there.
