POPO 2025 — Day 1 — Perspective

Poetry Postcard Festival 2025 went from July 4 to August 31.  The hosts ask that we wait a month before sharing our poems and postcards.  This year I chose to create the postcards with paint and paper collage.  It’s been so enjoyable to create the cards along with the poetry.

Thanks much, Colleen. It was the first collage I had done in awhile but overcoming inertia is the hardest — and best — part. I enjoy POPO Fest more each year I do it.

I agree–making the cards is the best part for me. Art and collage is a great idea too. (K)

What a bunch of fun! I am particularly like the following lines: “chromatic contrasts / of triangulating / a canvas…”

Thank you, Aaron. All of the POPO poems this month were written while drinking first cuppajoe and upon first looking out upon the day.

p.s. The postcards and the poems are not ekphrastic, except by chance.

If you read them this month, you will see that the poems and the images get less and less ekphrastic feeling. What matters is that each poem and postcard has been mailed to a person.

That sounds like a pretty amazing bit of art right there. How cool is that?
