Dotty’s Prognosis
Stage 3 of 3, aka the worst.
12-18 months eta to heaven.
Her frankenbelly pale,
a shaved expanse criss-crossed
with thin, dark suture.
“Bad news,” I message my kids,
“will tell you more later.”
Honestly, I don’t have the heart.
Why such a small, gentle cat
was given a life filled with
misery, loneliness, and pain
is a mystery. Maybe higher powers
say enough is enough?

For those who don’t know Dotty’s story, for the first 6 years of her life she was a stray and spent years in two different cat shelters before I adopted her. She has been poked, prodded, and had two spaying surgeries prior to this surgery to remove a mammary tumor.
This poem was written two days after her surgery in July, after the vet called with the results of the biopsy of the mass.
Please pray for Little Dotty. I don’t trust human nor non-human doctors, so it is my choice to carry on and ignore the prognosis of 6-12 months.

Praying for a miracle of healing for Dotty! And for peace for you both, that you may be mindful and experience nothing but the love and affection you have for each other. That you will have the wisdom to know what the next step is, each step of the way.🙏🏻❤️

I’m praying for little Dotty. She’s so sweet isn’t she. As long as she’s not in any pain, she could continue for much longer, I would say.

Lisa, I think you have filled her life with so much love and care you have erased her first 6 years. I’m praying for you and your sweet kitty. Doctors are not always right!

Thank you so much for your kind sentiment. She’s got it pretty good here, so maybe she has forgotten. I think the vet visits brought the trauma back. Hoping she can forget again.
You are right about doctors!!!!! I will leave God at the helm and relax.

Illness or loss of a soul that has absolutely no say in the matter- can be so devastating. Love every moment you have together- the future is set to take care of itself.

Steve, she’s doing perfectly ok now. Vet said just keep an eye on her. She said more but I will keep that to myself. I prefer to depend on heavenly hands at this point to a doctor’s predictions.
