Sleep Will Have to Wait
Oh, how I long
to curl up,
warm-cocooned,
for crescent’s dream
light’s long night.
Alas, winter dreams
to hibernate must wait.
Faithful frigid friend
extends their visit.
Awake, I step
into wool socks,
shove into gloves,
layer paint to
show snowdrifts
some churning love.
Mish is today’s host of dVerse’ Quadrille Monday. Mish wants us to write a 44-word poem using the word hibernate.
Adding pics taken today:

such longing Lisa –
“warm-cocooned,
for crescent’s dream”
lovely lines to an upcoming solstice

We need to do some shoveling… alas… still I would prefer some snow now.

A powerful longing, Lisa, which we have all experienced. I have had trouble sleeping lately and wish I could dream and sleep more deeply. I love my winter socks and gloves!

Kim, try nettle tea. I put about a half teaspoon into my blend for a 1.7 litre container.

Thanks for the tip, Lisa. I used to drink camomile tea but it doesn’t seem to work now.

Lisa, I feel like I live in your neck of the woods. We got 7.5″ of snow Sunday, and while I am one who always wishes for a White Christmas and rarely gets one, man was it a surprise to get this much all at once this early in the snow season. It will be gone relatively soon, but it really gets me in the Christmas mood, as did that song selection. I hadn’t heard Diana’s version of that before. I like it a lot. I wish I had been listening to it while I was showing “some churning love” to our driveway and sidewalk snow drifts!

Ooh, Bruce, so you finally got the White Christmas you wanted (for now anyway.) Glad you enjoyed the Krall Cover. I added a few pics to the end of the post. Glad you got out there and showed it some churning love :)

That “Faithful frigid friend”…love the alliteration. Wish I loved him/her as much.

I have a vision of being warm cocooned while the blanket of snow quiets my surroundings. Snow can be a deep quieting.
All I have is rain and more rain. Not quite as magical.
Stay warm,
Ali

Nicely said – and commiserations! (Personally I think snow looks very pretty in pictures, and I’m glad I live where I don’t encounter it in actuality.)

Carol, whereabouts in the world do you live? I actually don’t mind winter most of the time. Power outages and other equipment failures are the things I dread.

New Zealand, Lisa. I’m in the North Island where it only usually snows in the middle of the island, where there are 3 mountains. The South Island gets a lot of snow in Winter, as they have the Southern Alps etc. I’ve only ever touched snow twice in my life! (74yrs) :D

Snow is a beautiful thing, and as long as you get bundled up it can be a lot of fun to be out in it.
