December
December, come to me
I hope I can see
You're not just in dreams
I will let you be
Why can't you believe
How much you really mean?
December, won't you come
Back with snow, even sun?
Don't say that it's done
I will carry you home
Take you from the loneliest place
You have known
I will carry you home
Take me from the loneliest place
I have known

Glyn Johns is the host of Mixed Music Bag. I chose this song by Norah Jones on a random search. It was love at first listen. “December” is off of Norah’s 2009 album, “The Fall.”

I really dig Norah Jones, based on what I’ve heard. There’s just something about her voice that instantly draws me in. Plus, she writes great songs like the one you highlighted here. I’d like to listen to more of her music!

Christian have you heard the whole album this came off of? I only have her “Come Away with Me” album and I love it.

I have not – yet. When it comes to Norah Jones, I still know relatively little of her music. From “Come Away with Me,” I only recall the title track and the opener “Don’t Know Why,” which I both dig.
Other songs by her I like are “Sunrise”, “I’m Alive” and the more pop-oriented “Staring At the Wall.”
Now that you reminded me of Jones, I think I’m going to put her on my list for next year! :-)

I don’t know much of Norah’s music, but when I have heard her I’ve liked it…including this timely song for the calendar, Lisa. Thank you for the intro!

Whenever I hear Norah, I think of a road trip a colleague and I took to take some out-of-town training in disaster management. I brought along the then pretty newly-released CD ‘Come Away with Me’ and from the opening notes, he was in love with it. His first stop after getting back home (after checking in with his sweetie) must have been to buy the CD, as he walked by my office and flashed the CD cover on our first day back at work.
What an amazing singer and musician. Thanks for the reminder.

Steve, so pleased Norah brought the memories of that time back to you. This album brings back some special memories as well (but I’m not sharing them.)
