Dream Home
“Honey, I think I found it,” said Fish.
“What makes you think so?” said Jeremy.
“Description: ‘cozy, wood frame, lots of windows with lake view, cement driveway.’ The clinchers? prime location and the price is right,” said Fish.
“Let’s take a look at it first, babe,” said Jeremy.
They hopped the bus near their apartment complex and it took them as far as it could. They walked the remaining two miles. It was just as described. Jeremy stood with his back up against it and concluded he probably could sleep standing.
Their eyes met.
“Call the realtor,” he said.

Rochelle Wisoff-Fields is the host of Friday Fictioneers. Rochelle, thanks for picking my photo this week. For those interested, the structure is at a nearby Michigan State Park entrance where people buy day or seasonal park passes. And yes, it really does have a lake view.

Nice for them to find their forever home…xo

Yep. Good term for it.

At first I thought that was the one at our dam! Now THAT would be a tiny house…they could have added… low electric bills! Realtors do things like this all of the time…so this would not surprise me!
That reminds me…the 1980s…when you could get by with jokes…we would buy newspaper space…”room for rent cheap”at our buddies house addresss. At 6 in the morning people would be wanting to see the room at his house. Within an hour or so he would get wise and I would not answer my phone lol.

LOL now that is a practical joke! Did he ever prank you back?

Yea but me and my buddy were living in an apartment so he couldn’t do the same…but he did do a “yard sale” advertisement in our apartment….and yes we got people lol.

Good, Dwight, thanks. The housing situation is getting so bad for people that this story is almost non-fiction.

Thanks much, Colleen. Same for you. Are you getting a lot of snow where you’re at? We are getting slammed. The winds have calmed but so much snow is falling.

A unique fixer upper opportunity (trying to type between the snowflakes).

James the exact kind of terminology they use. You weren’t a realtor were you? I hear you on the snow. Heaviest snow yet here in MI.

I meant the “snowfall” on your blog. Hard on old eyes. The “unique fixer upper” quote is from the movie “Ghostbusters” (1984).

I wondered if the snow setting actually worked. Now I see it does. Very cool on the Ghostbusters quote. I wonder if this little dream home is haunted, and if so, by whom?

I think I would need a bit more square footage to make this work, Lisa. I’m cool with tiny residences, but a good fit would first require fitting in…literally. Real estate always provides some of the best stories, like this one!😊

It must be nice to see the positives on everything – I’m sure this will be just the first step on the path towards a property empire. Happy New Year, Li!

Happy New Year Lisa.
I don’t think I would buy this place. What’s the attraction.

Happy New Year! The story is hyperbole to call attention to the housing crisis. Thanks for reading and your comment, James.

Great story accompaniment to the photo, Lisa. I hadn’t thought housing crisis, but that’s a brilliant call-out.

your comment to Roth poetry was in line with my thoughts – this is almost non fiction because in some markets – homes are out of reach and you wonder how tiny one can go!

:) Chris, I’m not familiar with Jeremy Fisher. Googled and see a musician and a children’s book author?

It’s this: – The Tale of Mr. Jeremy Fisher is a children’s book, written and illustrated by Beatrix Potter. It was published by Frederick Warne & Co. in July 1906. Jeremy’s origin lies in a letter she wrote to a child in 1893. She revised it in 1906, and moved its setting from the River Tay to the English Lake District.
Many little lovely books for kids. Old but good, I have still some those. Beatrix Potter was wonderful!
