Northern Winter Drama
We are gauze wrapped,
warped scratchy cocoons,
suffered abrading wounds,
suspended trapped torsos.
We twist, resigned captives,
winter’s frostbitten hairshirts,
prey of waking hibernation,
doomed chattels until melt.
In full swing of Spring:
All this happened, more or less.

I think it all happened just as you said!! :>)

lol thanks, Dwight. Winter weather can blow things out of proportion, just a tad … but soon forgotten when Spring gets its green little butt here.

Brrrrr…. Lisa — you got my teeth chattering — and I think got a rash from the hair shirt my friend… ;)

Your poem has my teeth chattering, Lisa. I especially love the phrases ‘gauze wrapped, warped scratchy cocoons’ and ‘winter’s frostbitten hairshirts’.

There is so much to like about this!
The title is perfect and then you also provide skilled application of your alliteration as well as an overall musicality aided by your controlled use of assonance and choice of consonant sounds. Very well done!

Ooh! Some terrific phrases, Li! Much as I would love to experience snow, your verse is making me have second thoughts. 😅
Great write.

Punam, thanks so much. The best thing about snow is that you know it is a terminal condition (at least for awhile, until it rolls around again.)
