The daily writing prompt answer will be off the cuff.
Movies I’ve watched more than 5 times (from memory) from childhood, back when there were only around 3 channels, seasonal movies were watched annually, including:
The Wizard of Oz
It’s a Wonderful Life
Charlie Brown movies
The Night Before Christmas
The Snowman
The Velveteen Rabbit
Other movies:
Alien movies
Slapshot
Point Break (with Keanu and Patrick Swayze)
Fury Road (and the other Mad Max movies)
Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
Studio Ghibli movies (Howl’s Moving Castle, Ponyo, Nausicaa: Valley of the Wind)
Wild at Heart
Blue Velvet
Series:
I don’t think I’ve watched any series 5 times, but there are a few I’ve watched more than once:
Justified
Northern Exposure (not all seasons)
Dexter
Lovecraft Country
Watchmen (HBO series, which is excellent if you haven’t seen it)
What about you? What’s on your list?
Some pics not shared yet that were taken in Feb and March:
The first two are of Mlady, playing with her “tooth toy.” It remains one of her 2 favorite toys. The other is my pen, which has a rubber section that she likes to bite. I have finally found a way to keep peace between Mlady and Dotty. Dotty is a smart little cookie and has allowed herself to be trained. When I get up in the morning and start going through my routine, she runs to the back room, where her wheel, food, water, and kitty box are. I walk back and shut that door between the room and the rest of the house, open the blind on the outside door, empty recyclables that have collected in the inside box to the outside bin, clean her litter box, top up food and replenish water if needed, then go back into the main house area. She runs on her wheel, eats food, drinks water, uses box, then waits.
I heat up coffee if there’s some left or make a new pot, then open blinds in the kitchen and living room area. I grab coffee and sit on the couch. Within seconds, Mlady, who is also on board with the system, jumps up beside. I scroll through phone and pet her. She knows this is her main time with me and purrs up a storm. We play with the toys and everything is peachy. I look out the window, read current material, or do some writing. We spend a good hour together, where she knows Dotty isn’t going to intrude. They are peaceful with each other 95% of the time now.
Dotty gets my time at night when I’m watching TV. Mlady runs from the TV, which started a couple of years ago. She’s fine with youtubes or voices on the phone. It works out well. Dotty either sits on my lap or sleeps next to me, where I’m petting her.

A friend of mine gave me a candle set from Arbor Made Candles a couple of years back. The candle holder is made of silicon and there is a band of ceramic or something like it around the middle. The candles are 100% soy, have the most heavenly aromas, and come in a waxed paper cupcake-like container that is recyclable. The candles burn down evenly and almost to the bottom. Once they get real low, the silicon bottom of the holder is pushed up and the leftover wax is popped out. After a couple of years of refills as gifts from her, I decided to buy another holder and candle bundle. The one she got me is white. The new one I recently bought is in the picture. I decided to doll the picture up a little for a review I wrote on the site. If you burn soy candles or thought about burning them, check out Arbor Made (in Michigan) Candles at the site linked above.

The next pic was taken on Valentines Day by my older son and is shared with his permission. Such a beautiful capture!

And last but not least, I won this beauty in a writing challenge at Chuck Palahniuk’s Substack, “Chuck Palahniuk’s Plot Spoiler.” He has long been one of my favorite writers (along with Tom Robbins, Margaret Atwood, and more recently, George Saunders) and to be able to interact with him at Substack and have him help me and the others there to hone our writing skills is truly a dream come true. Chuck inspires me every day! This mysterious and elusive jackalope’s head now adorns my wall. Chuck sent so many other goodies in the prize box that I hope at some point, and with his permission, I may share more about in a separate post.

This was a wonderful read! I think the only shows in common are those seasonal ones as kids. That was the beauty of less technology…when the show was on only once a year everyone stopped what they were doing to watch it!

Exactly, Christine. Now, most of them I just don’t bother.

Congratulations on the prize! It has a knowing look about it.
I don’t watch TV. We watch “Love Actually” every Christmas, so definitely more than 5 times. I’m sure I’ve seen some of the Studio Ghibli ones that many times too. Because of my younger daughter “Star Wars” movies and Harry Potter as well.
I’m glad the cats have each got their time. (K)

Thank you very much on the prize and agree on how Emphyria (Emphyrio’s lesser known sister) Egg (named after Chuck’s Boston Terrier, who recently passed) surveys her new domain.
I’ve seen some of the Star Wars movies multiple times but there are so many now, can’t keep up with them. Never got into Harry Potter, probably because my kids weren’t into them. Oops forgot about some other anime I have seen many times but not adding them now.
Yes, when peace reigns with the queens, all is good :)

Love the pictures…how is Dotty doing? I haven’t asked you in a while…she had that problem before. Love those candles…I’ll send Jennifer the link. If I can’t think of something to buy her…candles always hits the spots. Love the jackalope!
What a good prompt! If we count my teens…
Benji (If I want to feel like I’m in the seventies again…I watch this one)
The Wizard of Oz
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
It’s a Wonderful Life (probably 35 or so times)
Charlie Brown movies (I still watch Snoopy Come Home and I went to the theater to see Race for your Life Charlie Brown )
So many more!

Thanks, Max. Her peeing outside of the box has ended, and I think that’s because she isn’t being harassed by Mlady. I hate to type this, but her tumors are growing back. Not where they removed the one on her belly button but in 2 different places. Her wheezing is getting louder when she sleeps, which suggests it might be going into her lungs, which is where the vet guessed it would go. So far she’s eating, drinking, eliminating normally and doesn’t seem to be in any pain. Thank you for asking.
About the candles, they are a little expensive if you buy the container, but once you get that, they are in line in price for those kinds of candles (size, soy, scent.)
I loved Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and so many other old Disney movies. Dick Van Dyke is a favorite it that and other ones (Mary Poppins.) I love Darby O’Gill and The Little People and have seen that many times.

Oh I’m so sorry…were they beign? But I don’t guess that matters if they grow into spaces they shouldn’t. I hope she has a long time left Lisa…you have given her such a good life. I’m glad the other problem is over.
I’m looking at them now…they are not too expensive…I was expecting them to cost more. I’ll have to get her one or two from there.
I got the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang soundtrack for my 8th birthday…a few months later I got my first Beatle album. What a transitition!
I’ve never seen Darby O’Gill and The Little People…hmmm I need to see that.
I just saw the first movie I ever went to see at a theater in 1974…it was called The Bears and I. One of those 70s Disney nature films that starred John Wayne’s child…Patrick Wayne about him saving 3 bears.

Best I just include a link to her prognosis, I don’t care to dwell on it right now. https://tao-talk.com/2025/10/30/popo-2025-day-30-dottys-prognosis/

Me too. Nobody wants to talk about their dying pet that is dying right before their eyes. Not your fault. I should have answered with a monosyllable.

For movies: Fried Green Tomatoes, Love Actually, The Holiday, Goodfellas, Oceans 11… And then some.
Love your photos!
Cats have such personalities 🙂

I used to get into Sex and the City (the series) bigtime when it was on TV. It was SO good! I’ve seen all of the movies you mentioned except The Holiday but only once.
Thanks on the pics, Dale <3
Oh yes, they do, and they are creatures of habit just like we are. I like that about them.
