It seems that photo gallery doesn’t allow lengthy captions, so I’ll explain a few. The first 2 are displays at Melt, a new restaurant we went to this month. In addition to these the tables are decoupaged with neat stickers. The food is cheap in price and kind of blase’ in my opinion. That said, I was surprised by the number of people who showed up to get their pickup orders while we were there. Although I like the kitchy (sp?) decor, probably won’t go back.
Third pic, with the bottle chandeliers, is from another restaurant visited this month, but for the life of me I can’t remember which one. I love these!
Fourth pic is of the free seed packets I picked up from the library seed bank. I have planted the birdhouse gourds and the tomatoes already. One gourd seed is sprouted. Speaking of birdhouse gourds, I’ll be seeing how the ones drying in the garage look soon.
After taking the 3 gorgeous sunset pics, my little eye did spy a wabbit in the corner of the yard. Nice to see them around. BTW haven’t seen the neighbor’s roaming killer cats lately. I wonder if there’s a connection?
Next are 3 pics of Spring Flowers blooming at fmg. Helleborus, snowdrops, and not sure what the yellow ones are.
These are followed by 2 pics of one of the many ponds at fmg. This one is just after stepping outside out back. I thought the green clumps looked interesting. We wondered if we’d see the muskrats out yet, and sure enough one was gathering vegetation and swimming. Later, in another pond, we saw another muskrat (or it swam down creek and walked over?) There’s no reason to believe that there aren’t several muskrat families on the property. They remind me of the wetlands near my grandparents’ house growing up.
We headed over to the Lena Meijer Farmhouse area, where I took the pic of the chicken family sculptures. Could not find the artist’s name at fmg website, which is a shame because there are several sculptures of farm animals there. The farmhouse overlooks Japanese Garden. Past it is a path that takes you to Nick Cave’s, “Amalgam,” that I shared at dusk last time. Here are pics of it in daylight, including one close-up of one of the birds.
I saved the best for last. While resting on a bench, granddaughter was nearby, playing in gravel. She has an affinity for natural things and collects bits and pieces of it. After awhile, she came over, held out her hand, and said, “Gramma, come on over here.” She led me to a dead leaf. She said, “Gramma, pick up the leaf.” I did and under the leaf was her gift to me, a section of walnut shell filled with carefully chosen bits of gravel. I instantly started crying. She said, “Happy tears?” I said yes and I thought my heart would burst.

The sunset photos are stunning. Your granddaughter’s story is really a tear jerker. Kids are the best. May she grow healthy and kind. Thanks for sharing the lovely story and poem at the end. Blessing Lisa.
